Chapter one
It didn't fit.... I stared at the mirror in utter horror struggling to calm down the hasty pace of my breathing. I blinked to control the tears that stung my eyes, resisted the urge to tell in fustration. My hands trembled as I stared at the black lacy corset in my hands. I had seen a fashion look of pinterest that I wanted to recreate. A corset over a white shirt.

I was fashion inclined and I liked to try out new things. Nothing that I did was working. I stared at the flab of flesh below my belly and flung the corset angrily to the other side of the room. I glared at my flabby arms through the mirror and let out a bitter scoff. I quickly glanced up at the clock. I was going to be late for school, mum would be probably be waiting at the table for me to have breakfast and knowing mum. She was never going to let me hear the end of it.

I let out a fustrated and tightened my waist trainer by 2 more inches, putting on a random white shirt and a pair of slacks. I hastily packed school necessities into my bag and hurried over to meet mum.

I had done everything possible to burn excessive calories within the few last weeks before the new semester commenced, from diet plans, to weight loss tea, to heavy work out schedules and the damn corset still didn't fit.

"What were you doing since, you'll be taking forever to get ready" my mum snapped. I didn't bother responding, I wasn't in the mood for her tantrums today.

"I'm ready" I quietly said. She narrowed her eyes.
"Aren't you having breakfast?"
I quickly shook my head "I'm already late, I'll get something at school". I knew I was lying. I wasn't going to have a damn thing except from my usual soda water, I couldn't afford to gain extra calories when I haven't even successfully lost the ones I already had. I need that corset to fit!.

" Ok. Musa has already been waiting. He'll drive you to school. I have an urgent meeting to catch up" she hurriedly kissed on the fore head and returned to the unsigned documents that were laid across her table.

The school parking lot was already filled with students that were excited to return for the new semester. Cliques reuniting and engaging in conversations, friends catching up, people hurrying to the first lecture. I scanned the parking lot for one of my best friends and Instantly recognized the golden tinted fro in the distance.

"Fatima!" I leaped out of the car and waved excitedly and she turned around, squinting her eyes and looking around, till her gaze landed on me. She squealed in excitement, almost running as she circled me in a warm hug.

"I missed you". I playfully rolled my eyes and softly nudged her.
"Timah. We hung out three days ago" she giggled. " Still missed you. It hits different when you see your besties at school" she shrugged as the two of us headed into campus.

"Were are the others?" I asked
"I texted kristen and to meet us at food court, don't know about the others though, perhaps they're still on thier way"

I sighed, excited to reunite my 7 Best friends again, a big number for a best friend clique but who cares. They were my girls and I loved them. We had known one another all our lives and It Just kinda stuck. I held onto fatima's hands as we roamed around campus looking for the rest of the girls. Truth be told, I dreaded the day already.
