True to his word, Tom was there every night. Sometimes he'd miss a number or have to leave. But he made it. Watching his little canary sing.
One night...
"Merry Christmas Eve, Thomas."
"Huh? Oh, hey, Trixie. Merry Christmas." His attention remained focused on Anet.
Hmph! She blocked his view. "I haven't seen you in a while."
"Been busy."
"I'm sure." She draped her arms over his shoulders. "Do I get a Christmas kiss?"
Tom chuckled. He put his hands around her waist and gave her her Christmas kiss. "Mmm. Merry Christmas to you too." He kissed her again.
"Mistletoe's over there."
"Annie!" Tom immediately let go of Trixie.
"Well? How was I?"
"You did great, baby!"
Tom moved in to kiss her.
Trixie's arms crossed.
Anet pulled back, amused at his level of confidence.
"I'm cuffed, remember?"
"Yeah, she's cuffed, remember?"
"But you're not, honey." He hooked his arm around Trixie and pulled her in for another Christmas Kiss.
Valentino came in as the band started up, "You were sensational!"
"Thank you."
"You're always a hit, Trix, but I was talking to An." he took her hands in his, planted an exuberant kiss on each.
Tom stifled a laugh at Trixie's expense. She shot him a threatening glare.
"Thank you, Vince." Anet replied.
"I've got a table reserved for you girls. Dinner's on me tonight."
"Good, I'm starving. Come, Thomas." Trixie walked off, Tom's arm hooked in hers.
"I appreciate it, Vince." Anet said.
"Anything for my new Angel." Wink. "You're up again in another hour. So take it easy over dinner."
"You got it, boss." She headed out to the main floor.
"Hey, Brownie!"
"Nick! Hi!"
"For you." He held out a rose. "Merry Christmas." He moved in for a kiss.
"You and Tom." She laughed pulling back, then allowed him to kiss her cheek.
Nick laughed, "Can't blame a guy for trying."
"Hey, Nick." Tom said as the two took a seat, giving his buddy the raised brow. "So, Annie. You glad I got you this job? No regrets?"
Hmph! Trixie shuffled in her seat. "Fine thing for you to do, Thomas! You bring in pretty little girls with little talent, to ruin me, just so you can get some neck."
"What're you beefing about, Trix? She was just singing and Vince just happened to walk in. that's all."
"Oh sure. You can be a real drugstore cowboy, Thomas."
"Again," he spoke nonchalant, "I don't know what you mean." He sipped his champagne.
"Don't worry about me, Trixie," Anet spoke up. "I'm not here to ruin anybody, I'm just here to sing. And that's all."
Trixie rolled her eyes. "Does anyone have a smoke?"
"Here." Nick obliged to her needs, pulling him a ciggy as well. "Brownie?"
