June 8, 1928

"I feel like I'm getting ready to walk into a den of lions, Cat. I don't know if I should be excited or scared." Anet and Catarina were in her apartment bedroom. Cat on the bed. Anet rifling through her closet.

"I don't blame you!" Cat laughed.

"I don't know if I should dress up because it's his family, or dress down just to be salty."

"Honey, just dump the greaseball already!"

"I wish I could. Trust me."

"Will Thomas be there?" Sly smile.

"Yes."

"Then go all out! Make the sucker fight for you!"

Anet laughed, "Someday, somehow, I'll break free of Selini. Until then, I'll settle for what I have right now with Tommy."

Cat smiled. "I mean, it's kind of romantic, you two being secret lovers and all... but I worry what'll happen if you're not careful."

Anet looked back in the closet, hiding the guilt of Mason's death. Mason had found out. If he hadn't, he'd have not come to her that night...

She pulled a dress out.

"Golly! That's gorgeous!"

"You like it?"

"Do I?!"

She handed it over. "Take it."

"You're kidding!"

"Not at all." Smile. "It's snug on me, it'll fit you perfectly."

"Where'd you get it?"

"Selini."

"Are you sure I can have this?"

"He buys me enough gowns. You keep it. Wear it when you go out with Alexander! He'll love it!"

Blush. "Well, if you insist. Thank you."

Anet finally decided on a gown. something both elegant and aesthetically pleasing. Cat styled her hair. Just as she finished Vic came knocking.

"That's him." sigh. She hugged Catarina. "Thank you, and thanks for listening."

"Of course, I'm always here for you, An." she returned the hug. "You have a great night."

"Thanks. I'll try."

Maggio's City House...

This was it. The moment Anet had been pretending her way to with Vic. The moment she would meet the Maggio of 1928. Danté Maggio.

Vic held the car door open for her as she stepped out into the warm spring night.

She recognized a few of the boys she'd met at the cabin. She smiled at those who looked her way, hoping to conceal the nerves rattling throughout her body.

They didn't get very far inside before Vic led her to a small room.

"I needed you alone for a moment, baby." He said. For some reason he sounded as nervous as she felt.

"What's wrong?"

"Listen, baby, tonight's very important. I know things have been a little rough between us on and off, I want to apologize for not being there for you as I'd like, and I forgive you for how you take it out on me."

"Vic, what's with the confessional?"

"You know how crazy I am about you, sweetheart." He held her hands in his, "I want to clear the air between us before we go in there tonight."
