Chapter 14: Silence

Jude's POV
After Jesus's death, me and Mariana were the ones that took it the hardest. Mariana was always in her room crying and when she did come out of her room she wouldn't speak to anyone.

As for me, I went mute again. I couldn't handle the stress from Jesus's death, Isaac breaking up with me, or Connor. So I just decided it was best to just keep quiet.

Today we're all going back to school. I really don't feel like going back. I just won't be able to handle everything. I start getting ready. After I'm doing getting ready for school I head downstairs. When I get there everyone is eating breakfast expect for Mariana.
"Good morning Honey, eat something before you go to school" Stef says smiling weakly.
Her eyes were red and puffy so I know she was just crying. I just smile back and start to eat. Once I'm done eating Mariana comes downstairs.
"You ready?" Lena ask Mariana.
"Yea I'm ready." Mariana says weakly.
She looks like she hasn't slept. I feel the pain that she's feeling. We all get to the car and head to school. Once were there I get off and see one of the last two people I wanna see. Connor is there standing at the entrance.

I get of the car and head towards my locker. Connor tries talking to me but I just walk right past him.
"Jude please!" I hear him scream from behind.
I get to my locker and I see Connor coming towards me. He reaches my locker and starts asking for forgiveness.
"Jude. I know I messed up but please forgive me."
I just keep getting my books out of my locker and head to class. Lena told all my teachers about me going mute again so none of my teachers forced me to talk. In class Connor kept trying to talk to me or sometimes he would just stare and me. I was really getting annoyed so I just got up and went to the bathroom.

When I entered the bathroom I went into one of the stalls and started crying. I don't know why I started crying I just did. I guess it was from all the stress of everything. As I continued to cry I heard the restroom door open.

I immediately stopped crying and got out of the stall. When I got out I seen Connor. I tried walking past him put he kept stepping in front of me.
"Jude. Please. I heard about what happened with Isaac and I also heard about Jesus. I know you feel like life isn't going your way but please talk to me. Please." He said with his eye getting watery.

At that moment I realized I need someone to comfort me. Someone to tell me that everything is okay and that it's gonna get better. That someone was Connor.

I hugged him and started crying into his chest. He started rubbing my back and telling that it was okay to cry. Him comforting me made me feel better. He pulled away a little and put his hand on my chin and raised my head.
"You know that I'm always gonna be here right. That I'm always gonna protect from all the obstacles that life throws at you. That I'm gonna stand by your side no matter what. Right?" He says to me.
"... I..... know...." I croaked.
He then leaned in and kissed me.
