Authors note: Ok, I should have probably done this beforehand, but there'll be cussing, violence (maybe sex too) and other disturbing themes inside of this book (not chapter)- read at your own responsibility.

No way in hell was Baghra the Generals mother! The idea was stupefying.
Suddenly a ruckus nearly made my heart stop. Someone was knocking on my door like the bloody earth was about to go under. At 1 am.
"Miss Endellienta?! Miss- oh!" I had abruptly ripped the door open.
"What's with all this shouting and racketing at this ungodly hour! Have you no shame!? Terrorizing people while anyone sensible is at rest!" I hissed like a wet cat at the idiot who had dared to assault my door.
Fecking heck.
In front of me stood a shell-shocked Nikolai Lantsov, his hand raised at the door, hair and sleeping robes in complete disarray.
Where. were. my. guards!?
"ARE YOU BLOODY SERIOUS???!!! DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW THIS IS GOING TO LOOK LIKE IF YOU'RE CAUGHT AT MY DOOR LIKE THAT???!!!!!!!" If anyone had ever wondered if there's a way to scream at a person at the pitch of a whisper- this was their answer.
I tried to shut the door in his face.
My efforts were thwarted. By his foot.
"Then you better let me in before I wake up the whole palace with my shouting and racketing at this ungodly hour." Fucking bastard.
He had the audacity to smirk into my face as he opened his mouth to make real of his threat.
I wanted to smother the smugness off. of. his. face.
Instead, I roughly dragged him over the threshold.
"Where is my guard?!"
"I sent them away." So much for protection and having them in my service only.
"You don't say?" I bit back sarcastically.
"Riddle me this, though. Why were they following your orders? They belong to me. As you have promised."
It seemed the meaning behind my words was only now dawning on him, for he looked as affronted as Ioan when I implicated his intentions.
At least Ioan had the decency to seek my company in public and ensure that I was feeling safe while I was with him.
"Forgive me if my actions were perceived as of untoward nature. It certainly was not my intention." A piss poor attempt for sure.
"The guard may not be able to refuse royalty, but I see to it that I'll find another solution for when a situation like this shall arise again." Strangely enough, I believed the prince.
"I didn't wish for additional ears listening to our conversation, Miss Endellienta."
"What sort of conversation would be urgent enough to require such precautions, my prince?"
It must have been about the audience with the king and the business with the first army and the university of Ketterdam, but I wasn't going make it ease for him. He wanted something, not I.
"I wished to apologize for my lack of consideration, my lady." It was my turn to be shocked this time around. Was that really Nikolai Lantsov acknowledging that he had been at fault?
You can catch more flies with a spoonful of honey than a barrel of vinegar.
Had I mentioned that the lowest form of simple-mindedness is recounting proverbs of the ton like they pilfered the fountain of wisdom?
