Shotgun wedding of a quite different kind- part one

Long time no see, my dear readers.

First of all- I'm sorry that I've allowed literal months to pass without publishing a chapter, I can not even use school as a valid excuse as I'm right in the midst of my finals at this moment (Finally! No more school with its maddening subjects and irritating people to go to anymore- I'm sooo excited to go study ONLY MY FAVOURITE SUBJECT to my heart's content at the university now- if I'll get accepted, that is. Although, I'll miss mathemathic, that was great) and still found the time to work on this chapter.

Anyways, as I'm turning twenty tomorrow I thought "Why not indulge you and myself with a finished chapter?".

Second of all- I do hope you are not too disappointed by the lack Aleksander in this one, but he is rather occupied with punishing Ioan for a perceived crime rn 🤣 and the chapter turned out quite long with it being rather heavy on the dialogue, so I decided to make split it into two parts. (Can't promise he'll play a major role in the second part of the chapter, though. The plot is quite dense as it is, but I promise I'll try to incorporate at least some quality time with the man).

Enjoy,

Inkwinds.

Ps: Ignore the person in this picture, it's only the dress that matters.

"So?"

Nikolai raised an eyebrow and gifted me with a sidelong glance, however the involuntary twitch tugging at the cornes of mouth and eyes betrayed his mirth.

"So, what?"

Insolent brat- "I asked you a question, your Highness, yet you have kept me in suspense so far. One can hardly help but wonder how long you'd intend to keep such attentions enraptured for." I elaborated with saints worth patience.

Though, where my serene mien would have fooled the prince of my true morale once, it now seemed to serve no cause besides inciting the cheeky bastard.

"Ah, but I was merely awaiting the close of your enquiry. I was not aware of your Highborn having asked so much as demanded my answering you, for I believe the former of two practices would require one to finalise the sentence with the terminology "please"."

Oh, if just you weren't still legitimate royalty... we both know I wouldn't have to wait for the most convenient moment to make you eat those words.

"Why- Beg your pardon, my most exalted liege. The perceived failings of proprer conduct must have escaped my notice, somehow."  I acquiesced with a smile as saccharine as manzanilla de la muerte.

We might want to have him taste its fruit of his own volition and enjoy the ensuring spectacle-

He merely laughed, as usual ridiculing the stiltedness of statment.

"Now to rectify my mistakes- Would you, please, inform me of all of recent developments that I had yet to be informed of, your Highness?"

Nikolai opened his mouth with a smug grin and made to counter- when my words registered in his mind and he paused with a flummoxed expression upon his face.
