two months passed. and soon it was the night of the winter ball.

there was one every year. a hogwarts tradition. it was the only ball we had at hogwarts. i stared in the mirror while adjusting my sage green formal bodycon dress. i heard a loud crack and aiden appeared at the doorway.

"you should really start giving me a warning," i told him, inattentively putting on my silver hoop earrings, "what if i was naked?"

"so what if you were?" he smirked.

he leaned against the wall then walked over to me, coming up from behind me and touching both of my bare shoulders with each of his hands. he looked straight ahead, towards the mirror at the two of us.

"i breathe for you, ivy." he softly whispered in my ear then pressed his lips on my neck.

his right hand traveled from my shoulder to my waist. i took a deep breath, looking in the mirror and feeling his tongue brush my neck.

"we have some time to spare, don't we?" he stared up at me.

"save it for later," i pulled away, heading towards the door, "let's go. we'll be late."

i took his hand and we exited the common room, heading towards the great hall, where the winter ball was.

(draco's pov)

"so you're leaving me?" i complained  to blaise, lazily laying on the couch and drinking a glass of fire-whisky.

he stopped fixing his tie in the mirror and turned to look at me, "you should come– it'll be fun. we'll spike the punch just like we did last year."

"blaise– the girl i asked to the ball rejected me for someone else. do you know how embarrassing it would be for me to show up without a date when literally every one of my friends has one?"

"brielle doesn't." he informed me.

"whatever– you get the point," i paused, "give me one good reason to go..."

"you can– make ivy jealous."

"really? how? i have no date!"

"brielle," blaise told me, "just tell her what happened. she'll be happy to help."

he took one last look in the mirror, "i've got to go. melody's waiting for me. i hope i'll see you there."

"when diricawls fly..." i muttered under my breath.

"unless..." i continued.

i contemplated blaise's idea. perhaps i could make her jealous, i thought. i decided to go to the stupid ball, only to make ivy jealous.

i quickly slipped on my dress robes, fixed my messy hair, and went to the great hall. and there she was, dancing with leo and molly and... aiden. his name was cursed to me. such a stupid name, i thought, aiden... snape. ridiculous.

shortly after i arrived, i found the table brielle, blaise, and his girlfriend melody were sitting at. i sat down with them.

"brielle–" i whispered, leaning into her ear, "i need you to help me make someone jealous."

she stared at me, "who?"

"you see that girl over there?" i looked in ivy's direction, "the one in the long, green dress."

"aiden's girlfriend?" she asked.

"yes."

she smirked back at me, "you're not the only one who's trying to break them up. let's go."

once we got to the dance floor, i made sure ivy saw me seductively dancing with brielle. and she did see us. i couldn't tell how she felt about the two of us dancing but after she got a glimpse of us together, she looked pissed.

eventually, everyone got tired of dancing and the appetizers were arriving. i sat back down at the table and took a sip of sparkling water (which to me, was disgusting), and stared over at ivy's table– at ivy.

she didn't catch my eye but i peered over at her a few times during the dinner service. the dinner was mildly entertaining– as was watching aiden spill water on his pants. but when the dessert came, i began to enjoy the ball much less.

ivy had caught on to my little jealousy scheme and dipped her finger in the whipped cream on the chocolate pie they had served us. she knew i was looking. and she knew what she was doing. she put her finger, with the whipped cream in aiden's mouth, and seductively bit his lip. then she stared back at me like the devil herself and smirked. i couldn't stand her.
