Jack Johnson's POV:
After I finally feel like I've thrown up everything inside my stomach, I stand up and wipe my mouth with my sleeve. It's probably been twenty minutes since I ran off into this alley.
The police are on the scene, which means they've taken Aiden into custody. Connor was taken to the hospital a few minutes after I left. I hope he's ok, more importantly, I hope he makes it out alive.
The thought has crossed my mind that if he doesn't make it, then no one will know I cheated on Jack.
But I don't even care, I'm literally praying that he lives, I don't care if the first thing he says when he wakes up is "Jack is cheating", all that matters is that he wakes up.
There's also the thought of "Will he blame this on me?" Because if he does, he's kind of lying.
No one forced him into traffic, he should've looked both ways before running off like that.
This is all a huge mess, and to top it off, my phone starts ringing, and the only person who would be calling right now is Jack.
"Hello?" I say, quietly.
"Jack! I need you, where are you?" He yells into the phone, frantically.
"I'm at home.." I lie.
"What's going on?" I ask, like I don't know.
"It's Connor! He's hurt, can you come to the hospital? I can come pick you up if you want, I just need you here.." He sounds like he's crying.
"No, no! Don't pick me up, I'll be there as soon as possible." I then hang up on him, it seems rude, but he'll understand.
...
I walk into the hospital and I'm immediately pulled into a hug by Nicole.
"Thank you for coming." She exhales into my shoulder.
"Yeah, no problem, what's going on?" I ask, trying my best to act surprised.
"Connor was-" She stops to catch her breath.
"He was hit.. By a car." She finishes, she takes my hand and pulls me down a long white hallway, we finally arrive at Connor's room.
The first thing I see is Jack at Connor's bed side, and Connor unconscious.
"The doctors say he's comatose, and they don't know when he'll wake up.." A tear escapes her eye.
"That's terrible.." I breathe out.
The sound of my voice makes Jack's head pop up from where he was crying on Connor's bed.
"Jack." He says, running up to me.
He throws himself into my arms and lets his tears out.
"Why did this happen?" He sobs.
"I don't know, babe.. No one does." I let my tears out as well.
I'm crying because I hate seeing Jack like this. And because Connor's in a coma. This shouldn't have happened.
Nicole walks over to Connor's side and grabs his hand.
"The man who helped him is in the waiting room nearby.." She gestures.
"I'll be right back.." I let go of Jack and walk out of the room.
I turn a corner and the only person in the waiting room is Aiden.
"What are you doing here?!" I whisper.
"I had to make sure the kid was ok!" He yells, not even trying to be quiet.
I walk over and sit next to him.
"You need to go." I stammer out.
"No." He grabs my hand and rubs it with his thumb.
"What are you doing?" I pull away quickly.
"Holding your hand.."
"You can't do that, we're not a thing anymore." I look towards the hall to make sure no one is looking.
"None of this would be happening if it weren't for Jack and that Connor kid!" Aiden yells.
"Wait did you meet Jack?" I turn all of my attention towards Aiden.
"Yeah, he seems like a jerk, I can see why you cheated.." He wipes his eyes.
"Hey! That's my boyfriend!" I defend Jack.
Speaking of Jack, he walks into the waiting room.
"Hey babe, I'm gonna head home. All of this crying is making me tired." Jack says, walking up to hug me.
"Ok, we'll talk later." I say, hugging him back.
Jack leaves and I turn back to Aiden, who is rolling his eyes.
"Whatever. We're better together.. I'll prove it." Aiden stands up and storms out of the room.
"Wait, what?" I yell after him, but he's gone.
Next, Nicole walks into the waiting room and sits by me.
"I can't believe this is happening.." She says, looking at her hands.
"We're so close to graduating, and this happens." More tears fall from her eyes.
"I know, it sucks." I exhale, trying to be sympathetic.
"Jack, what if he doesn't make it?" She looks at me.
"He's gonna make it, Nicole.."
"How can you know for sure?! The first guy I actually have feelings for gets hit by a car and now he's hanging on by a thread.." She puts her head in her hands.
"He's gonna make it, there's no other option." I try to cheer her up.
"He's strong, he's a fighter, so when I say there's no other option, I mean it." She puts her head on my shoulder and smiles.
