Needy - At home late after work
The house was quiet as she walked in, the only light came from the stove's overhead in the kitchen and a few nightlights in the hallway. She locked the door and hung her heavy coat kicking off her shoes before padding over to the kitchen. There was a note from Bailey most likely, judging by the handwriting and the drawn car, letting her know her food was in the oven.
Smiling at the note she made her way to the oven to find her piece of lasagna. Everyone had been raving about it at the hospital today but she hadn't had much time and Callie promised to give Meredith a whole pan just for them. The kids must've been happy, they loved lasagna—pasta in general but lasagna was the favorite.
After heating up her food she sat at the dining room with a glass of wine and the notes from her last case. Meredith might disapprove of her bringing some work home but it wasn't as if her wife was any better. She ate, drank, and made notes, her eyes starting to grow heavy. Empty dishes went in the dishwasher before setting the cycle and she finally headed up.
Before she went to bed she wanted to check on the kids as always one by one she went to check—Zola first. She found her oldest fast asleep with her arm dangling from the bed. Gently she put her arm back on the bed and kissed her forehead before heading to the next room—the boys. Henry and Bailey were completely gone, a battle of snores inside the room. She couldn't help the chuckle as she went in to tuck them both in, a kiss on both of their heads.
The last room was Ellis', her youngest's room was closest to Meredith's and hers. A frown appeared on her face as she approached the already open door. She looked in to find the bed empty, a scan of the room told her where her little girl was. Shaking her head she finally headed to her room and sure enough her door stood ajar.
Quietly stepping in she looked at the bed and found her daughter safely tucked into her sleeping mom. She smiled to herself as she contemplated both her daughter and the one person that had brought her the happiness she never thought she'd ever obtain. The silence in the room was interrupted by a soft snore, which made her giggle not because it was her wife snoring but her daughter. Ellis was definitely a mini Meredith and there was definitely no denying it.
With one last look at the bed and her sleeping girls she made her way to her drawers and pulled her pajamas. Sneaking around she decided to shower in the hallway bathroom rather than in her room to avoid waking up her wife, who as of late had become a light sleeper.
After a quick shower she made her way back to the room. Meredith and Ellis still slept in though she loved her daughter and she liked cuddling her, she wanted to sleep comfortably with her wife. As gently as possible she pulled off the comforter. Neither Ellis or Meredith stirred but when she went to pick up her daughter her wife snapped open her eyes quickly grabbing the little girl.
"Honey, shh. I'll take her to bed." She whispered and Meredith quickly eased her grasp on Ellis, whose eyes fluttered open.
As both of their eyes adjusted a wide sleepy grin etched itself into their faces. It was the sweetest most beautiful thing she had seen today, her wife and daughter's easy and loving smiles. Smiling back at the both of them Addison motioned for Ellis to come to her. After a sleepy bob of her head, the little girl sat up and reached for her.
With little arms securely around her neck Addison winked at her sleepy wife before she carried her daughter to her own bed. Not even two steps and Ellis was already asleep. Gently she set her daughter down and tucked her in with her teddy bear.
She half expected Meredith to be asleep too when she got back to her room, however, her wife was sitting up waiting for her. Sleepy but happy baby blue eyes twinkled in the dim light as she stepped in.
"You ok?" She asked when she reached the bed and Meredith nodded. "Ready to sleep now?"
"With you?"
"What kind of question is that, honey?" Addison chuckled while shifting closer.
"Addie, I love you." Meredith said and quickly tucked herself under her chin.
"And I love you." She smiled and kissed the top of her head.
"I don't like falling asleep without you anymore." Meredith muttered.
"I'm sorry."
"No. You don't need to apologize. I'm just being needy." Meredith said, lifting her head to look at her.
"You, my amazingly beautiful, smart and kind wife, get to be as needy as you want. Though I don't think you're being needy. I feel the same when you're at the hospital." Addison smiled and kissed her nose. "We're here though. I get to hold you and sleep next to you tonight."
"Good." Meredith smiled and tucked herself back under her chin. "Addie..." she muttered after a few minutes.
"Hmm?"
"I used Ellis because you weren't here."
"I figured as much." Addison chuckled. "You're like two peas in a pod, you know?"
"Yeah?"
"She was snoring." Addison laughed.
"No way." Meredith laughed as well.
"Yes way. She's as cute as you." She smiled. "Same eyes. Same sleepy smile. Same little snores. It's perfect."
"She has your attitude though."
"What attitude?"
"You know what attitude, Adds."
"Hmm. Go to sleep." Addison muttered.
"See?" Meredith giggled.
"I don't know what you're talking about." Addison shrugged.
"I love that attitude of yours. I absolutely love every little bit of you."
"That's good." Addison felt her cheeks heating and rolled her eyes at herself—after all this time she still got giddy.
"Is it?"
"Yes. You were about to sleep alone."
"No!" Meredith tightened her hold around her. "You're mine. You're not going anywhere."
"I love you."
"I knew that."
"Oh be quiet and go to sleep, you needy child." She huffed and chuckled when she heard the blonde's outraged gasp.
"I love you more than I thought I'd ever love anyone." Meredith lifted again and placed a small kiss in the corner of her lips. "Nite, Addie."
"Nite, Mer."
