Dinner - At home

Three days. That's how long she had been gone. Three days stuck in the hospital working tirelessly to help a young mother and four babies. Three days away while her wife had been given mandatory time off. She had missed Meredith and as she parked the car she couldn't help the bright smile.

On the drive over she had picked up take out from their favorite Italian place to surprise the blonde. Her car had smelled glorious and her stomach was in knots from hunger and waiting. She was excited. Excited for food and for her wife and for the next two days off together and for...

The smell of burnt meat hit her the moment she opened the door. Then the smoke detector started going off and a string of curses filled the air. Locking the door and dropping everything she ran for the kitchen.

"Dammit! Shut up!" Meredith was barking at the smoke detector while fanning it with a dish towel. "Shit. Shit. Shit. That hurts."

"Meredith? What's going on?" She called.

The blonde whirled quickly to look at her. Eyes wide and flushing like a little kid in trouble. It was quite comical and she may have laughed were it not for the angry red patch of skin on her wife's forearm.

"Oh my god, Meredith!" She exclaimed and rushed over, carefully taking her burnt hand. "What happened? Are you ok?"

"Fine, it's a steam burn from when I took the lid off." Meredith said quickly while still fanning the smoke detector.

"Steam?"

"Well, water. From the pasta."

"God, Meredith." Addison sighed. "Hold on. Let me turn these off and open the windows." She said and went about doing that while the blonde stood there holding her arm.

"I'm sorry, Addie. I wanted to make pasta for you. I'm so sorry. I really should never be in the kitchen."

"Shhh. It's ok." She said while making her way back to the blonde.

"I promise I'll learn. I'll cook something good."

"How about for the time being we stick to sandwiches and cereal?"

"Wh—"

"I love you." Addison interrupted her with a kiss. "I missed you."

"I missed you too." Meredith smiled then hissed.

"Yeah. Let's take care of that."

"What about the mess?"

"I'm certain everything here is quite dead so it won't run away." Addison smirked and her wife rolled her eyes with a soft playful huff.

Chuckling, she led her wife to the bathroom where their first aid kit was. She called Mark, who through his laughing fit instructed her on what to do. Meredith's pout was prominent by the time the call ended but after a few kisses it faded away.

They made their way back to the kitchen and rather than try to clean the pot and pan she tossed them. They were both ruined and no amount of soaking and soap would change that. While she did it Meredith began to ramble and apologize all over again but she brushed it off.

"What now?" Meredith asked and pouted a bit.

"Now we have dinner."

"But I burned it."

"It's a good thing I came prepared. Though I think we may have to pop it in the oven for a few minutes." Addison said and made her way to the front door where her coat, purse, and food sat on the ground.

"You brought dinner?"

"From Volturno's." She smiled and laughed as she watched her wife's eyes brighten up. "I assume you're ok with this?"

"Let's have dinner!" Meredith whooped. "Come on, Addie. I'm hungry."

"Yes, Babygirl."

"And after dinner..." Meredith snuggled her brows suggestively.

"After dinner..." Addison lowered her tone and stalked closer, "we get dessert." She let out in a sultry voice.

"Dessert?" Meredith chirped.

"Mhmm." Addison walked past her. "Ice cream!!!"

"Wh..." Meredith sighed heavily.

"There's two desserts after dinner though so be ready, Babygirl."

"So ready!"

"Good. Very good."
