RUBYツ
I stood by my brother's grave for about an hour and felt the freezing rain beating on my skin. Then, with a heavy heart, I turned and left the quiet graveyard.
I actually expected that when I get home, most of the guests will already have gone. But when I arrived soaking wet, I would have turned around immediately, because more than half are still using it, and I just want to be left alone.
I want to cry to myself in peace.
Is that too much? Maybe I can get mom to send the guests home?
No, I'd rather not, because they're here for us.
I was just walking up the porch steps when the front door opened and Luke came out. His ice blue eyes are bloodshot and glassy. The blond hair is now dry, but totally disheveled, as if he had rubbed it dry with a towel over and over again. When his gaze fell on me, he stopped.
I probably look teary and broken and soaking wet. The rain had not decreased, no, it was still like a waterfall.
I'm really uncomfortable with the situation here.
Mainly because a few seconds passed and neither of us said anything.
I also had nothing to say after all this time.
"Hey," his voice shot right through my bones, right into my drained heart.
Luke is no longer the boy I had met, no, in front of me was a grown man.
Just like I'm not who I used to be. At least not anymore.
"Hey," it slipped from my lips before I sat down on the small white bench. I was actually supposed to get out in my soaking wet clothes. After a moment's hesitation, Luke sat down next to me.
Then there was silence, only the chatter of the guests could be heard in the background and the rain pattering on the ground.
"I'm so sorry, Ruby," I almost didn't hear him saying it so quietly. I tore my eyes from the rain and looked over at Luke.
"Micky was also important to you." He nodded.
"Yes, he was," I felt that terrible lump in my throat again, choking me. "Here," Luke reached into the inside of his leather jacket and pulled out a package. "That's why I was late. Micheal almost left it at the hotel. I had to look for it when I got home because it was hidden under my clothes."
I looked down at the package and swallowed the lump, but tears are already slumbering in my eyes again.
Luke Hemmings would then hold it in my hand and look at the rain so I could take my time, after all this is the last I'll ever get from Micheal.
As I opened the package, tears streamed down my cheeks.
A book appeared.
The last part of Throne of Glass.Actually, he's not out yet.
Micheal knew how much I loved the Sarah J Mass series.
When I opened the book, there was something written there.
I hold my breath as I let it.
You can't borrow a book you love, you have to own it.
Surprise sis!!!- Mickey
