Y/ns first day had finally come to an end. It was pretty uneventful but they couldn't wait to get home and lock themselves away from the world.

They got into their car and tried to start it but the engine just spluttered. After a few attempts y/n slammed their hands on the steering wheel and yelled.

"Fuck this stupid piece of shit car! And screw you Dustin for ditching me. "

Dustin may have been an irritating little swine but he was actually borderline genius so would of probably been able to fix whatever was wrong with the car.

Dustin's house wasn't too far away though, so they decided to just walk home. The quickest way was through the woods behind the school field.

Y/n wasn't very far into the woods when they stumbled upon an old beat up picnic bench. It was covered in graffiti and surrounded by empty beer cans and other pieces of trash.

"Gross." They thought to themselves.

Just as they were about to continue walking they heard a loud snap behind them. They quickly spun around to see and bumped into someone.

"Shit. Sorry. You okay?" The person said.

"Jesus Christ Eddie! Are you following me or something? What are you doing out here?"

Eddie laughed. "Why would I be following you? I come out here all the time. It's kind of my spot."

Y/n looked to him, confused. "Your spot? For what exactly?"

"Just... hanging out I guess."

Y/n didn't believe him. But didn't really want to know the real answer so stayed silent.

"What are you doing out here anyway?" Eddie asked.

"I was trying to walk home but then you freaked me out." They huffed.

"Yeah, sorry about that. Wasn't my intention. But hey, Atleast it was me and not some psycho killer right?" Eddie laughed.

Y/n looked at him in disbelief. "And how do I know you're not a psycho killer?"

"Well you'll just have to trust me I guess..."

Trust. Something y/n struggled heavily with.

"Yeah well trust has to be earned." Y/n sounded sad as they said this. Which Eddie clearly picked up on.

He reached his hand out and very gently placed it on y/n's before speaking softly. "Then let me earn it"

Y/n would be lying if they said that didn't make them light up inside. But they could never show that.

They pulled their hand away. "Look, I've got to go. My aunt will be wondering where I am." And they went to turn away.

"Oh... yeah... of course" eddie stuttered. "Hey, what are you doing tonight?"

Y/n looked back at Eddie. "Nothing. Why?"

"Well there's this party tonight. A load of my friends are gonna be there."

"Um... okay?"

"You should come. Meet everyone." Eddie suggested.

Y/n hated parties. But they figured that would probably be more exciting than sitting in watching whatever rubbish was on the tv with aunt Claudia. "Sure, why not. I have nothing better to do."

A very slight smile shot across eddies face. Which he quickly tried to hide. "Cool. Well I'll pick you up at 8? I figure you need a ride."

Y/n nodded. "Sure. Thanks. Look I really do need to get going now. I'll see you later."

Eddie smiled once again. "Yes you will."

Y/n gave him a slight smile back this time, before continuing to walk home.

After About 20 minutes y/n finally made it home.

Walking through the door they could hear the chaos already. Dustin was running around looking for something like usual, there were cats everywhere and aunt Claudia was singing away in the kitchen.

"Fucking mad house."

A high pitched voice suddenly pierced through y/n's ears.

"Oh there you are sweetie! Why are you so late?"

Aunt Claudia was a sweet woman really. But she was definitely a control freak. The poor woman worried constantly about everything. So y/n could never tell her about the party tonight.

"Oh I'm sorry, my car wouldn't start after school so had to walk home. I got a bit lost walking through the woods."

"The woods?! Oh my! Well we better that car of yours fixed quickly!"

Y/n giggled to them self. "Hey aunt Claudia?"

"Yes dear?"

"A student in my English class has invited me round to their house this evening so they can help me get up to speed with everything. Is that okay? They'll be picking me up at around 7:30"

"Oh of course how lovely! I'm so pleased you're making friends already. Make sure you eat some dinner before you go though! I have a casserole cooking."

Yay. Casserole. Again.

Y/n smiled forcefully. "Of course. Can't wait."
