Y/n and Eddie stayed sat in the same spot the whole night. They went back to barely speaking. Eddie had suggested that y/n should try and get some sleep, but there was no way that was going to happen. Although at some point Eddie had fallen asleep. His head had slouched down and rested on y/ns shoulder, which they really didn't mind.

The sun was just starting to rise when Y/n noticed something was wrong. Eddies peaceful sleep has now switched to heavy breathing, twitching and whimpering.

"Eddie?"

Y/n put there hand to his face and shook his head gently. "Eddie, wake up."

Eddie's head suddenly jolted up, fear had overcome his face and his eyes had started to well up.

"Hey, it's okay. You're okay. You're just having a nightmare."

Eddie looked at y/n. "Shit, I'm... im so sorry."

They looked at him and offered a slight smile before taking his hands in theirs. "You have absolutely nothing to be sorry for. It's okay. Do you want to talk about it?"

Eddie shook his head. "I'm sorry for falling asleep on you, you should of moved me."

"Why would I move you? I'm just glad you managed to get some rest."

"Did you get some rest too?"

"No. But I'm okay. Im not really tired."

Eddie knew they were lying. Their eyes were barely staying open. He didn't want to push though.

"So, what do we do now?"

"I have no idea. But we need to figure it out soon."

"We're screwed. Like totally screwed."

Eddie looked like he was about to tear up again so y/n tried to lighten the mood a little.

"Maybe we should just leave the country. I hear Australia's nice..."

His eyes lit up. "Yeah?"

"No Eddie, that was a joke..."

"Right, sorry. Not a bad idea though."

"Well, if no one comes to rescue us in the next few days we'll go. Deal?"

"And who's going to rescue us?"

With that the door to the boat house crashes open. Eddie and y/n both jolted back slightly, and y/n ended up practically sitting in Eddie's lap. In through the door walked Dustin, Steve and Robin.

Y/ns fear turned into relief. "They are. Our heroes!"

Dustin smiled. " there you guys are! We've been looking everywhere for you."

Eddie huffed and rolled his eyes. " Jesus Christ Henderson!"

Y/n got up and walked over to their cousin, wrapping their arms around him. "I never thought I'd say this, but I am so happy to see you."

"Gee, thanks."

Y/n laughed as they pulled away. "How'd you find us anyway?"

"Called round some of Eddies friends to see if they knew where he'd be. Then figured you'd still be with him because you didn't come home."

Y/n smiled. Dustin, as annoying as he was, was actually a genius. "Smart thinking Dust. So uh... I'm guessing you know what happened?"

Dustin sighed and looked to the ground. "Yeah, about that..."

Y/n and Eddie listened closely to Dustin explaining about a secret world hidden beneath Hawkins. Filled with monsters and other nasty stuff. Apparently the thing that killed Billy had come from this other world, or 'the upside down' as Dustin called it.

"But that's kind of not the worst part."

"It's not? How is that not the worst part?!"

" the uhhh, the cops think Eddie killed Billy."

Both y/n and Eddies eyes shot straight the Dustin.

"Shit. Shit!"

Steve stepped forward this time and spoke. " yeah, there's more..."

"How can there possibly be more?!"

"They think he kidnapped you..."

"Well that's Bullshit!"

Dustin chimes in again. "We know that! But that's what it looks like."

Y/n looked over to Eddie. His head had dropped and his hands were shaking.

"Well we can fix that part. I'll just go home. Everyone will see I'm okay, I'm not kidnapped."

"It's not that simple!"

"Why not?! Eddie didn't do anything!"

"Because they'll probably arrest you. Right now, you're a missing person last seen with a murder suspect. If you go back now and you're completely fine then you'll probably become a suspect too. At the very least they'll question you, and you're the worst liar I've ever met."

Y/n was freaking out. Eddie had been nothing but kind and sweet to them. How could anyone think he was capable of murder and kidnapping?

"We are so screwed!" Eddie was still hiding his face, but it was obvious by his voice that he was crying.

"No you're not. We're gonna figure this out. But you guys need to stay here and stay hidden. Understood?"

Y/n and Eddie both nodded.

Steve walked over to Eddie. "Hey man, give me your keys."

"What?"

"They keys for your van. We're gonna stash it somewhere that's not here. It's like a target sitting out there."

"Shit. Right. I forgot about that."

He handed Steve his keys.

The trio then headed back toward the door.

"What you're leaving?!"

"We're gonna go stash the van and get you guys some supplies.  we'll be back in little while."

"Right. Thanks Dust."

As they left, y/n looked back over to Eddie. He was staring blankly at the floor in front of him. Y/n didn't know wether to speak to him or not, but they didn't need to.

"You should leave too."

"What? Why would I do that?"

"You don't want to be stuck here with the freak, right?"

"Eddie you're not a freak."

"That's what everyone says I am. And they're right."

He looked broken. He didn't even look at y/n when he spoke. He just stayed staring at the floor.

"I know I haven't known you long Eddie, but nothing about you says freak to me. Misunderstood and defensive? Definitely. But you're not a freak."

His eyes finally lifted from the floor and met y/ns.

" you really don't think I'm a freak?"

"Do you think i would of kissed you if that's what I thought?"

"Yeah well, I bet you regret that now."

"Not at all. I just wish everything after had played out a little differently. I kind of wish we could have a do over..."

Eddies eyes widened. "You do?"

Y/n moved directly in front of Eddie. They placed a hand on his cheek, wiping his tears with their thumb and smiled softly.

"I do."

Eddie smiled back in disbelief . "Is this really happening again?"

"Eddie..."

"Yeah?"

"...stop talking."

Y/n leaned in slowly, and Eddie followed until their lips met. This kiss was different than the one before. This was soft, and gentle. Y/n could feel Eddie smiling behind it.
