Chemistry was a bore.
Their chemistry teacher had asked each of them to state what they had learnt from the last lesson.

Lumen had already said most of it, luckily for Chikamsi, so she did  mental copy and paste, giving the woman a a fraction of what Lumen had said, not too much but enough to make her believe she understood the lesson.
Chikamsi sighed in relief when she was asked to sit down, and Mrs Stella went on to the next person.

She poked Chetachi, trying to get his attention for the hundredth time that day.
He hadn't spoken to her since yesterday, after she hurled hurtful comments at Tobiloba in the Rainforest Cafe.

He had walked out on the duo and Chetachi left her there shortly after that, claiming she had no filter and was mean.

He ignored her again, focusing instead on the projector infront of them that the teacher was teaching from.

The electronic wristband on her right hand beeped, reminding her that she had ten minutes left to leave the school and start making her way to the venue where the Influencer's Meet would be holding.

Chikamsi worked her lower lip, wondering how best to tell the current educationer that she needed to leave the classroom.

“Chikamsi!" Mr Omonigho called.
"Chikamsi" Her best friend repeated, and poked his head into the kitchen.

She waved the pestle threateningly in the air, and asked him what he wanted.

"Where's our pounded yam na?" Chetachi asked frowning as he walked into the kitchen.

Chikamsi rolled her eyes and continued pounding, blocking out whatever he was saying.

A whole me,Chikamsi thought to herself.
Pounding yam!

“The biggest influencer of the week is busy pounding yam, while Trip Markets Conference is going on." She muttered to herself, dishing the fluffy white swallow into a plate.

Just before she wanted to leave school two hours to the closing period, her parents had called to inform her that they were having a very special guest tonight, and she was to come home early to help out with preparations for the visitor.

Chikamsi had cried and grumbled, Trip Market had invited her for this conference, but she knew better than to disobey her parents, especially when a visitor was involved.

Reluctantly, she had headed home, only to meet her senior cousin and childhood best friend, grinning from ear to ear, walking in with Chetachi by 7pm.

They had cooked soup, her mother had done most of the cooking, while Chikamsi hung around basically being her errand girl.

When the soup was done, she had instructed Chikamsi to boil and pound some yam while she entertained their visitor in the parlour.

Chetachi walked over to where she was pounding the yam, and scooped a little onto his finger tasting it.

“There are seeds here Chikamsi" he said making a face and feeling the rest of the swallow on his finger.
“I know," she replied dishing the yam onto  another flat plate.
Chetachi raised his eyebrows in concern
“You know?" He repeated.
“Mhhm" she replied, covering the plate swallow with a piece of aluminum foil.
“Its  your own I'm wrapping" she said motioning to the seedy yam she just had rolled up.
