Witch-n-tines Day | (Edric) | pt. one

*Edrics POV*

It's been a couple of weeks ever since I accidentally kissed Hunter at his birthday party, and everything has been so awkward between us since then. For some reason, I couldn't be my normal self around him every time at school and I'd stumble on my words and say the stupidest things.

There was just some part of me thinking if I ever were to be truthful about my feeling our friendship would be in jeopardy. But at the same time, I wasn't sure about my feelings, I couldn't tell if it was romantic or platonic feelings. Ugh. While I groaned on my bed from a distance I could hear giggling and laughing, what? I sprung up from my bed and slammed amity's doors wide open "I'm kind of having a moment so could you jus-.." stopping mid-sentence my eyes widened.

Amity and Luz looked at me being a bit startled and I looked around to see gifts, teddy bears, and flowers, and I was so confused. "What is going on?" I asked being a bit puzzled, "Luz was going to tell me more about a human holiday until you burst in here like a mad animal!!" Amity yelled looking like a vein was going to pop out of her forehead.

"Human holiday?"

Emira popped out from behind me with a slick smirk written on her face while Mitten's anger grew. "Uh...Yeah! It's called Valentine's Day ever heard of it?" Luz said as she held Amity's hands tighter, Emira being intrigued then jumped onto Mitten's bed.

"Nah but I'm guessing you'll tell me more about it," Emira replied with a smile on her face, I didn't know what to do so I just sat down on the floor and listened quietly. "It's like my second favorite holiday besides Halloween! It's like a special holiday to show your loved ones that you care." Luz said while her eyes drifted off to Amity's direction. "The littlest things count, as long as you show you care."

Ever since Luz told me about that dumb human holiday I've been trying to follow what she had said but I kept blowing it up. Like today when I tried to pick up Hunter I convinced him to let me ride flapjack to school. "Er...Edric do you think you can ride on him?" he asked attempting to lend a help hand, "Yeah-Yeah! Just sit tight~" I lied not knowing how to actually ride him. This was a way to show him that he didn't have to always fly me to school, the littlest things count right? He hesitantly hopped onto the back of flapjack and we lifted off the ground, it was going good at first until I lost balance and we ended up in a bush.

Another attempt at the human holiday was when at lunch I slid an extra fairy pie slice towards him and he lit up. That's when I thought I actually had this holiday down, "Awh why didn't you get us any!" Emira wined while Hunter frowned feeling a bit guilty. "Ah, don't worry you can have mine!" he awkwardly laughed sliding the pie towards her. My final attempt was when I was trying to flirt in a way but when I leaned on the wall I ended up falling down the stairs. Thanks to Luz's glyphs I would've hurt myself really badly, it was failed attempt after failed attempt and I couldn't understand why I couldn't get this holiday right.

Lightly banging my head onto my locker, someone approached me with a card in hand. "Hey Blight brother." she said with an annoyed look on her face, "My name is Edric, Boscha." I picked up my face from the locker. "Yeah, whatever. I need a couple of upperclassmen to come to my bonfire for a good rep. So I was thinking..." smiling, Boscha took my hand and shoved the card in it, "Invite some others if you can." she rolled her eyes and flipped her hair before walking away.

A bonfire?.. Normally I'd be down for that kinda thing but at Boscha's? My face grew a disgusted look and then it hit me. It would be such a perfect opportunity to maybe clear the awkwardness between me and Hunter. Have fun! Let loose! and maybe be a bit truthful about how I may or may not feel. A sudden confidence grew in me and since it was passing time I finally had time to talk to him.

Skipping through the halls, I spotted him next to his locker and hugged him from behind. "It felt like forever since the last time we've seen each other." I wined after letting go of him sooner or later, "It's been an hour, and are you okay?! It looked like you fell pretty hard."  he quickly turned around with a frown on his face. "Yeah-Yeah! I basically used Luz's Safety Hover but never mind that.." I brushed off before popping the invitation card in his face "So...You. Me. All the s'mores we can eat? Boschas bonfire!" a smile grew on my face while Hunter's face remained unbothered.

"Eh. I've never been to a bonfire before so I don't think I'm the one to ask. Plus I have to study tonight." he casually rejected flapping his hands around, "Oh! No that's understandable..." I awkwardly laughed looking to the side. The bell rang and he walked away from me but mid-way he stopped in his tracks and I could tell from afar that his ears were slightly red. God was I really that embarrassing? I sulked/walked away in a separate direction until he caught up to me. "Hey! Wait! I uh...yeah! I'll go to the bonfire with you. I guess my studies can wait." he placed his hand on my shoulder stopping me and avoiding any eye contact, "I'd like that." I said with a soft smile written on my face. Hunter's attention went back to me and he also smiled we stood there for a good second until "Ah-! I forgot the bell rang!" he panicked before running off.

"See you at the bonfire ~ ♥"

I waved him goodbye and my smile didn't wipe off my face even throughout the whole day I was just so excited. We had never actually had fun with each other in a while since he was always busy with something but tonight would be different. The last bell rang and I was practically on cloud 9 walking to the manor. "What's with you? You look weird." Emira scoffed as Viney popped behind her "No-No I know that look all too well! Looks like Edric gotta crush~" she laughed as Emira's mouth dropped. I stayed silent for like a second until I just spit it all out "Ah! Okay, I'll admit...I may or may not have one..and let's just say my vai..? val..valentines day is going good!" I gushed as my cheeks went bright. Viney and I's hands clapped and we were jumping in a circle giggling while Emira was in the middle. "Soo...who is the special person?" she asked as I stopped jumping and went silent "Oh c'mon! spit it out! I'm a sucker for romance! I'll even take a hint!" Viney cried as I gained the confidence to finally just let it out. "Er..they have blonde hair." the both of them stood there dumb-founded until it finally clicked and they turned to each other.

"Do you think it's.."

"HUNTER?!"

*Hunter's POV*

I don't get what was going on today but every time Edric came up to me he'd always hurt himself or me in a way. I was still picking branches out of my hair and placing them in my locker, doing so, I was shocked when someone grabbed me from behind until I heard a whiny voice. Oh. It's just Edric. I don't know why I felt so weird around him I had the impression my little crush had to be over after Edric's reaction to our accidental kiss. But I'm now thinking I'm not all that over it just yet.

"You. Me. Boscha's bonfire?"

A party? With the amount of homework, I had to do I was basically drained, so I don't think I was ready for another experience, to be honest. "Eh. I've never been to a bonfire before so I don't think I'm the one to ask. Plus I have to study tonight." Once I said that he looked pretty upset and I felt really bad and was going to say something until the bell rang. It went silent so I awkwardly walked off and I felt like a real jerk. Wait a minute. Was he asking me out? and did I just reject him just like that?! Ah! I got to stop overthinking everything. Pssh there'd be other people there so that wouldn't be a date! Right?! I probably am just thinking too much. Looking at him in the corner of my eye, I didn't care if it was just another "experience" type thing anymore.

Catching up to him I finally made it right and his smile returned as my cheeks went rosy red. On the way home I was still smiling just at the thought of it. lately, he's been acting weird and that might mean something right?
