It was almost the wedding and Mikaela told me we still need to check something. We should also bring Collei with us because as the best man, Collei knows what Thaddeus wants. She said it was supposed to be Thaddeus checking on this stuff but he isn't here yet so she wants us to pick it on behalf of him. It was so early like 9AM and I was still half awake. She said we can still go somewhere after and she just needs someone to check and who would you trust the most than your friends, right? Yep, your friends.
“What are the things that we need to check?” I asked her. She took out her notebook and looked at the pages. The three of us crossed our arms waiting for her answer. The wind blew our hair since it was quite windy even though it was summer. It was a perfect match for summer heat. “You guys need to check the handkerchiefs color, the wine glasses, and also you guys should pick the flowers,” she said. We all nodded. So, flowers, glasses, and handkerchiefs. Got it. We agreed on starting with the wine glasses. We went to the kitchen of the hotel.
There were tons of wine glasses with it. I picked the one that was perfect for red wine. I told them about it. “This is perfect for the wine. The bowl is much bigger hence more liquid for the guest to drink,” I said. They quietly nodded and I waited for another bottle so we could pick which one to choose. “What about this one?” Collei exclaimed. He raised a glass that has a slimmer bowl than mine but is longer. “You said there's white wine right? This is perfect for white wine,” he added. I slowly nodded and thought for a second.
“Kelsey, pick. What's the best glass?” I asked her. She slowly nodded and she couldn't answer. I was waiting for her to answer and then she finally thought of an idea that we can all agree. “Well, I think we need two glasses anyway. So, Axton's for those who want red wine and Collei's for those who want white wine?” she said. Well, it was understandable so we just agreed on it being the two glasses. We wrote the options in a notebook and took pictures of the glasses so that we can show it to Mikaela.
We walked around and found the handkerchiefs. Mikaela said that she wanted a minimalist kind of wedding so there were only a few options to pick from. Kelsey was looking at the handkerchiefs and Collei was too. I was checking the smoothness of each handkerchief and also, most importantly, their color. But, they do smell good. “I pick tan,” I said. I picked the tan one. Why the fuck do this handkerchiefs smell so good? I was very confused and it felt like it was drowsed in chamomile or sampaguitas, I don't know. But what I do know is that it smells good.
“What about beige?” Collei asked me. I saw the beige one and touched it. It has the same texture but I feel like the beige one is much softer and it smells good too. I tried touching it and really tried it if it really is perfect for the wedding. “Huh, it is smooth and is not rough on the skin. Yeah, I pick beige. Kelsey, what about you?” I asked her. She was looking at the beige one too. She smiled at us and so we agreed to pick the beige one as the handkerchief.
“Ok, last one. Oh my god, it's almost 11,” I said. I always check the time when I just finished a task to see if I can do another task for the day. We walked to a person that was selling flowers. There were a lot of flowers to choose from but I remembered that Mikaela likes red so much. “What about carnations?” I asked them. The carnations were perfect for a wedding like that. Carnations smell great but I think they had other plans on what to pick for the flowers so they were looking for something more.
“Let's stick to the original and pick roses,” Kelsey said. She likes having a traditional wedding and I like roses too. It was also red so I mixed it with the carnations and I asked Kelsey to walk like a bride. We laughed afterwards like the walk was a joke.
“Well, let's not make it too red. Thaddeus said to make the bouquet pop so I think he wants a splash of color,” Collei said. He got one yellow flower but I never recognized that flower so I don't know what that is. It's not a sunflower though. “Chrysanthemums, Thaddeus' mom is a florist and she would appreciate a flower as complicated as this,” Collei said. We agreed and merged the three flowers. We paid the guy who was selling them and we ran off to Mikaela who was talking to someone. I recognize him, it was probably the baker.
“Mikaela, I think this is the best combination for the flowers,” I told her. She told us to look at her stance and walk. We watched her as she slowly walked like the elegant goddess that she is. She hugged me tightly and thanked all of us for being so helpful. “We're glad to help, Mikaela,” I told her. I patted her back and she put the flowers on the side. “By the way, just because you guys helped me and I think it is almost 12, I want to give you guys this,” she told us.
She showed us a box of donuts that was creamed with chocolate, vanilla and powdered with sprinkles. “Don't worry, it's a little thank you gift for you guys. Now, if you'll excuse me, I gotta go check out the venue,” she told us. We gave her a thumbs up and ate a donut, each.
We didn't eat breakfast.
