It's been a few days since the college party. Adrian started avoiding me, my gaze and when we'd come across each other in the house. I don't remember giving him a reason to do so.

He's been more behaved lately, not attempting to sneak away, go to parties, sneak random dudes in- he wouldn't leave his room past a certain time at night.

It's been quiet without his yapping- kinda boring. I have less to do. My progress with getting him to fall for me wasn't going anywhere.

"You may speak now" Martin leaned back in his black chair, it look like a villains chair- the back rest was tall, a few inches above Marlins head.

I stood tall across from Marlin, blocked by the large desk between us, there were papers scattered around, some with information and others were pictures of people- I assumed were targets. Klaus stood to the side where Marlin sat, near the large bookshelf on the back wall.

"Sir, Adrian hasn't left the house in the past week, the only time he went out was for school, then straight back home." I kept my voice loud and clear, as to sound confident in what I knew. "Cain has made no movement, on my spare time I questioned the three students that attacked Adrian at the beach. Alexander Lopez and Roland Marshal mentioned Cain paid them a fair amount of money each to bring Adrian to him. I attempted to speak with Trent Bolton but he has disappeared. He doesn't show up for any school activities" I frowned.

I had a feeling Trent was more involved with Cain then the other two, his sudden disappearance as I began questioning them lead me to believe something more.

"I see not much useful information" Marlin leaned forward resting his elbows on the desk, his fingers were interlocked but his wrist were spread apart. "Anything else?"

"Yessir. The side mission you gave me went excellent. I managed to capture the son of your rival mafia. They won't be focused on taking Adrian out or you sir." I gave a nod. The day Adrian skipped class, I had gotten a call from Klaus, telling me to check out a group who were suspected of plotting to take Adrian. I had to knock some guys around, since none of them wanted to talk. The son of the rival gang was a young teenage boy, we could use him to get information or threaten the other group.

"Excellent. One more thing before your dismissed- Klaus you may leave the room" Marlin ordered. Klaus grinned as he exited the office, closing the doors behind. Shit was I in trouble?

"Sir" I began to tense up. Did he learn of my plan? What did he need to say? I bet Klaus peeped something about Adrian and I goofing off.

"My son, did he tell you why he's been against me?" Huh? That's what he wanted to know? "I assumed you two are becoming friends due to the time you're spending together"

He seemed to deeply care for Adrian, strange for a father with his kind of job.

"No sir, he only mentioned his past relationship with Cain" I wasn't sure where this was going, but I hope I'd be dismissed soon. Marlin wasn't satisfied with my answer. "Do you know why I framed Cain?" He asked.

Was there a point to what he was saying? Or guilt he had been holding onto?

"Adrian mentioned it was because Cains father was trying to kill him". "That's partly true. Cains father did want to kill, but not Adrian. He was aiming to kill me, and have Adrian do so. Cain was very manipulative, he easily got Adrian to do anything he wanted. Cain was supposed to get close to Adrian, the more I was against their relationship the more Adrian despised me. I knew there were many things happening to Adrian when he was with Cain, I couldn't intervene for his sake."

He knew the shit Adrian was put through and did nothing?! My gaze darkened as he spoke. What did he mean he couldn't intervene, Adrian wouldn't have to suffer if he had done something sooner. I could feel my blood began to boil with annoyance. Maybe that's why Adrian seemed to hate Marlin.

"I only did what I did because things began to escalate. Klaus caught Adrian trying to kill himself- I couldn't bare to loose the only thing I have left of my Maria" his voice choked when he mentioned his deceased wife's name. "Sir, apologies for my words. You already lost him.. I think you know why he's against you, deep down." I growled lightly. I tried to maintain my frustration. Marlins slightly soften at my words, he definitely had regret "Excuse me, I need to get back to work" I quickly exited.

I might get in punished later for speaking out or leaving without being excused, that would be better then listening to Marlin.

My phone began to ring as I went towards the back of the house. Of course it was Nick again, I haven't spoke to him in a month. He must be worried. I released a sighed, I planned to answer it but I spotted Adrian leaving the house from the backdoors. I raised a brow as I turned the ringer off.

I put my phone in my pocket as I hurried out after Adrian. Was he trying to sneak away?

I kept my distance as not to alarm Adrian that I was following him. Adrian trailed to the small patch of a flower garden. It was a random garden, it was small, filled with a few different types of flowers.

I watched as Adrian crouched down and began pulling the weeds. Ah he must like flowers. I began walking up behind him. "Adrian-." I said in a low voice trying not to startle him.

Adrian turned quickly, once he made eye contact he looked away standing. "Wait don't leave" I moved my body in front of his. It was clear he was avoiding me again. "Why are you avoiding me?" I questioned "did I do something wrong?" I tried to get him to look me in the face.

Adrian began twisting the weeds he picked in his fingers "I'm not avoiding you". That wasn't convincing. "Then look me in the eyes and say it" I ordered him.

He lifted his head looking in my eyes, "I'm not" he spat. His cheeks became light pink "I don't feel like talking-.". "Well too bad.. I miss talking to you, I've been hella board without you trying to escape or you arguing with me" I smiled.

"As if- er whatever" Adrian shoved the weeds into my hand "If your going to bother me, might as well help me".

My smile grew as I crouched as well "I'm assuming you like flower?" I glanced sideways at him as I began picking the weed from the ground. "Kinda. Klaus use to tell me my mother loved them. This was her little garden" Adrian smiled a little then it faded.

I knew nothing about his mother, only that she had passed.

"I didn't get to know her- I'm sure she was a gentle soul" He said. "I see. These flowers are beautiful, it brings color to the land" I chuckled. "Yeah! I wanted to make fields of flowers, but it would be difficult to keep it up myself." He frowned "and because of Marlins mafia we can't risk outsiders coming past the gates"

"You have me at least, I'd gladly help" I touched a rose the was partly dead. "Do you like sceneries?" Adrian asked. I nodded "Who doesn't, they are relaxing and filled with inspiration". "Inspiration? Do you draw or write or something?"

"Hehe yeah, when I was younger I enjoyed drawing. I wanted to be an artist but my father had other plans" I chuckled. "Oh.. I wanted to be a dancer" His voice got quiet as if he was embarrassed by his dream. "Really? That's cool, I enjoy dancing but I don't have the talent" I stared as Adrian laughed.

It was nice speaking with Adrian like this. His laugh was enough to make my day. I looked at him as he stood up "wanna go somewhere nice?" He asked.

I raised a brow as I stood up after him "Sure" I held the weeds in one hand as I wiped my free hand against my pants.

Adrian tossed the weeds to the side and put his hand out "keys" he said. I gave him a suspicious look. "We have to drive to get to where I wanna take you, don't worry I'm a good driver and we'll be together" he rolled his eyes.

I reach into my pocket, pulling out the keys to the car Marlin gave me. I hesitantly handed him the keys "you better be a good driver" I joked.

Adrian smiled up at me "you can just toss those, I'll pick them up later" he pointed to my hand that still had weeds. "Right thanks"
