꧁~~~Jon Stark~~~꧂
꧁~~~298 After Conquest~~~꧂

꧁Ben's lute had been singing for just as long as his voice had been, maybe for the past hour. Soft were their singing, a unsettling darkness about the song resting softly upon the shoulders of the older twin as he continues to sing.

"And one dark night,
When everything is quiet in the town...
I'll kill you bastards one and all.
I'll run the floggers down.

I'll give them all a little shock.
Remember what I say..
They'll yet regret they sent Jim Jones in chains to Botany Bay..."

And after some wordless tunes that travel for a lingering men, Ben's song finally ends as he opens his eyes, staring across the fire to Jon as the younger twin raises a short brow in question.

"Where is Botany Bay?"

He asks as Ben can only shrug.

"Next to the water somewhere, I'd imagine."

Jon chuckles lightly at that, shaking his head in amusement as he stares up ahead at the stars. Night had gathered, but their watch would not begin. Their watch was over, in a sense. The Watch will surely want their heads, regardless whether the Old Bear gave his blessings or not. It bothers him, really. It bothers him that he gave up something he always wanted with such ease. Only now he finds it were not as easy as it was.

"I know.."

Jon started to speak, making Ben raise a brow as he sighs heavily.

"I know what you've given for me wasn't easy...and I'm sorry for it--f-for everything.."

Ben pauses, staring at Jon for a lingering moment before shaking his head lightly.

"You needn't be sorry. Besides, what else can you expect from the little twat brother, being such an arrogant bastard?"

Jon knows that Ben did not mean a word of insult, and that his words were meant to poke fun and to draw a smile from him, which they did. Jon chuckles lightly again, smiling as Ben smiles a small one.

"How many days until we reach Winterfell, you think?"

Jon asks as Ben shrugs, but knowing the answer already.

"Two days at most. Knowing how Robb is, he's going to try and flaunt his make-believe talent he's got and try to rush South without all of the bannermen at his side."

"You do not give enough credit to our little brother."

Jon remarks with a smile.

"He's done far better than what you or I could've done."

"Hmpf! Yeah, anyone with decent ears could do better than you could. Robb didn't need his head rung like a Sept bell to get the point through."

"Still a better way of teaching than that prick of a master-at-arms."

The two brothers chuckle warmly together, distracting themselves from what is going on down South. But the longer the silence soaks in, the more time is given for the thoughts of their father to fill the crack. The fire crackles between the two as Jon clutches his gloved hands together, rubbing them to keep warm whilst Ben begins to strum the cords of his lute once more.
