Lily POV
"I thought you'd never slide on a real nigga. I been out for a whole month already."
"Damn don't do me like that. I was busy honestly."
"Yeah heard ju been running around with East. That's what had you busy huh? I come out thinking imma finally get my chance with my girl then I hear she fuccin with East."
"Aww nah you making me sound like a villain or some."
"Nah it's cool I get it playa. That's life, ain't shit but love for you still."
"Love you too Kaash but tell me how you been holding up. You staying outta trouble right?"
"Yeah sumn like that. Trynna make money like the rest of us out here but I ain't trynna go back to the pen either so I'm moving a lil smarter. Yunno, learn from my mistakes type shit."
"Yeah just be careful."
Kaash and I grew up together. Back in the day before granny got a house we stayed in an apartment complex. Kaash lived directly across us until she moved to the Bronx. We were tight asl. I was closer to her than I was to anybody else at some point even Keisha. We told each other everything and spent alot of time together. It was nothing for us to have sleepovers or for her to come over for lunch and vice versa. We never stopped being friends but we did get a little distant for two reasons the first being that she changed a bit with her being in the streets. I was worried for her but she was aggressive, always getting into some shit and her attitude got pretty fucc'd up like she wasn't listening to anybody. Then there's the fact that she was crushing pretty hard on me. I always knew Kaash was into girls but I wasn't on that typa time. Yunno when someone has a crush the more they speak to the person the stronger those feelings get. That's what was happening and worse yet, I think I actually started to like her back. It was weird because I never thought of liking girls yet I was starting to contemplate it for Kaash. I didn't want to try a relationship with her and fuck up our friendship because the truth it no matter how much I liked Kaash, I still saw a wedding and kids in my future... with a man. It would've pointless to start anything with her, someone would've simply ended up hurt. To avoid allat, I began to pull away. Give us some distance so we would hopefully start to lose feelings for each other. Then just before I left for college she got locked up. I visited her twice before leaving New York. I heard she got out of course but apart from being busy with wrapping up filming and everything else I had going on, I was too nervous to face her just yet. She hit my phone yesterday on a private number which I almost didn't answer because Aaliyah Fenty doesn't do private calls. We ended up talking for a lil minute then she asked me to swing by the Bronx since she wanted to see me. We needed to catch up anyway so I was down for it. I'm just thankful she hasn't mentioned Dthang at all yet. I know they hated each other. What are the odds two of my old crushes having beef in the Bronx.
"So what you got going on tonight?"
"Nothing, why?"
"Shit your C-day tomorrow and you inside tonight? You down bad bae." I blushed at the realization that she actually remembered my birthday. In all honesty I haven't made much plans. Arlena is back at school so that's kind of a let down. Your birthday just don't be hitting when you don't celebrate it with your twin. The past few years have been like this, with both of us attending school in different states.
