Lily POV
"Oh my God, mommy it hurts!" I cried as Dave held my hand and my mom continued to wipe my face.
"It's gon be okay baby." She encouraged.
"You got this mamas." I was holding onto Dave for dear life but he didn't seem to mind or at least he didn't show it. Either way, in this moment I honestly didn't care. I needed this baby out of me.
"Can't they just cut her out or something. I don't think I can do this. I-I can't." I cried.
"No it's not that simply baby, trust me you got this. They don't usually encourage C-sections unless it's absolutely necessary and I know you can do this okay? Once it's over you're gonna ask yourself why you made such a fuss. Hell, you'll even be willing to do it again."
"No tf I won't! I'm not doing this again! HE did this! Why isn't he the one carrying the baby!? I swear to—owww."
"Okay Aaliyah-
"Call her Lily." Mom smiled gently at the nurse.
"Right, Lily you're ready to hold your baby sweetheart? It's about that time. I think you should change into your scrubs now mom and dad." She told Dave and my mom. They're the only two I wanted in the room with me. I know Chris is waiting outside with Danny. I'm in so much pain and I haven't even start pushing yet. I need some serious strength right now if I'm already struggling with contractions. God be with me.
After hours of screaming, tears and pain I gave birth to the most beautiful babygirl I have ever seen. Reina Hailey Brewster came out screaming for her dear life and it was music to my ears. Dave even shed a tear and let me just say that it was the most unexpected yet precious sight ever. The way that he has been holding her for the past ten minutes and the way he looks at her with such warmth I can already tell that he is going to be so attached to her. He'll more than likely spoil her to pieces.
"She is so fuckin cute bro. I'm surprised she ain't take your whole face cause em genes strong asf, just look at Kairi." Danny said looking at our daughter. This is a second time experience for Dave and I bet it still feels surreal. I was less then 10 hours away from giving birth on Danny's birthday and still three days earlier than my due date.
"How you feeling mamas?" He asked again for good measure.
"Worn out truthfully, I'm so tired babe."
"You look it too but your fam ain't gon be here till later. Their flight got delayed so you should rest." My family were all in LA together. The minute they got word that my water broke they booked the earliest flight out but it got delayed. Luckily, my mom deciding on staying in New York a little while longer since my due date was close so at least I had her here with me.
"She's so gorgeous though babe and that's saying alot because babies be ugly as shit when they're fresh out." It was the truth. I really couldn't get over how adorable our baby is.
"The fact that you still got the energy to make jokes after what your body just went through is something else."

"I'm still so fat, what if my stomach never goes down?" I've been looking at my body for the longest while in the mirror and Dave has just been observing me. It's bothering me because I feel like he has something to say. "Whatever is on your mind just say it already.""Lily it's been a week you expect to just return to your normal size instantly?" He said with a sleeping Reina in his arms. He walked over to her baby crib and laid her down gently, careful not to wake her.
"A full seven days huh, that's insane. I'm really someone's mother. It's unbelievable."
"Biggest blessing in the world gon always be being a parent, believe that."
"I can only hope that we live up to be good parents, like ours of course."
"I got no doubts in that future but try to focus on the present instead."
Dave POV
I've been at home for two weeks straight only leaving when I gotta go to the corner store. Shooter been handling the works at the trap while I've been focused on being home for Lily and Reina. We've been so consumed with our babygirl we barely leave her side at all. Lily has been real emotional but she's been doing real good with our daughter as if it really came like second nature to her.
"Babe, Chris is on his way you want anything when I get back?"
"Where you going?"
"Home, I need more clothes." Lily has been staying with me for a couple months now. With her being pregnant I felt more comfortable knowing she under my roof. Truthfully speaking, we never even discussed our living arrangements for Reina's arrival.
"Why not just move in?" I asked straight.
"You want me to move in... like live here...with you?"
"Why you sounding slow ma, what's the prob? You don't want to?"
"It's not that um.. don't take it the wrong way but it is a big step. Are you sure that's what you want David?"
"Aaliyah you just had my daughter and you over here more often than you by your gandma. Besides, how else we gon be in a relationship and raise our daughter if we ain't under the same roof?" I was surprised she was even asking me that. It wasn't a big deal to me at least not as it would've been before. The East before Lily wouldn't even think of letting a female stay the night farless move in. I like my own space, it always been that way. Millie was a different case before her ass got evicted and then got pregnant. I didn't really have much of a choice but with Aaliyah, I genuinely want shawty around me 24/7. I love that girl and it ain't no other way I wanna end my days than coming home to her and our kid.
"This is a big deal for me Dave, a big step.."
"So you saying no?" I asked a little harsh.
"No you idiot, of course I'll move in. All I meant was that it means alot that you would ask me to in the first place."
"I feel like there's a but coming.. what's the catch?"
"As much as I love you and being around you, this isn't the idle place for me to live. Staying here weekends or months on end is cool but truthfully I don't feel 100% safe since I was shot here. I know it wasn't your fault and I don't want you to feel bad but-
"Ain't shit ma, don't worry about it. I get it."
"No Dave, I really want to live with you but-
"Lily you ain't gotta explain yourself I get it and you right. I don't blame you for feeling that way, so imma get a new spot."
"WHAT?!"
"We'll get a new crib."
"You want to buy a new house because I'm... uncomfortable. That's insane Dave."
"Is it? I'm getting a new crib, one for a family not just for me and why tf you tearing up man? Keep it gangster g, you going soft on me."
"Nigga bye, I peeped you cry when Reina came out trynna clown me for being soft. You a whole gummybear under all that hard East shell."
"For my girls, hell yea. If not for y'all who else imma be soft for?" A knock came through on the front door and it don't take a genius to figure out that it was Chris dumbass beating on it like he a drummer. Lily left the crib with Chris after checking on Reina. Nearly two hours later she pulled up with two duffle bags of clothes and seafood boils.
"Of all the food you could've bought to eat man. That shit be making your fart stink like your insides dying."
"I barely took five steps and you on my ass already. You a hater nigga, clearly." Flipping me the bird she dropped the food on the kitchen counter and went up with her bags. When she came down she had Reina in her arms, no surprise there.
"So you trynna move outta Harlem or?"
"Damn you quick with it huh. As much as I love the idea of getting a crib with you, after thinking about it again I think it's a bit too soon."
"Too soon for who?"
"For both of us. Dave why go looking for a whole new crib like maybe we could just try installing a security system."
"What I look like having cameras on my crib? Ain't no gangster putting that shit on themselves."
"That's probably why they all dead. You're a father before you're East right? It will be good for your kids too or maybe just get an electric gate or something."
"Nobody in the neighborhood got an electric gate ma."
"And what do you care? We'll have enough expenses as it is we don't need to add a crib to that, not right now. Plus we are only a year in, we got time."
"Aight, whatever you wanna do but we ain't gotta make a decision now anyway. I gotta make a move real quick though."
"Nigga I just brought you food and where do you have to go?"
"I've been idle for a minute. I still got businesses to take care of, I know you get that. Look, maybe y'all should come with. Get Reina out the crib for a bit, y'all been inside longer than me. Take a drive with me."
"While you're handling business?"
"Not that kind of business ma, c'mon let's go."
"Nigga gon make my crab legs get cold." I heard her mumble walking over to Reina's carrier. I just had to shake my head. After running a few quick errands, we pulled up to Shooter's crib. We kicked it with them for a little minute and Lily got a chance to eat her crab legs because of course she left the house with it. Pulling up to our final stop I got out the whip and got Reina's carrier out too.
"You gon walk straight into some if you ain't watch where you going."
"I can multi task just fine Dave, I'm seeing you right ahead of me. I'm just texting Arlena, she said she should be back in the city by August for a week or two."
"Mr.Brewster, I thought we'd have to reschedule."
"Nah caught held back a bit." I tried to say softly looking over my shoulder.
"I know you ain't looking at me David Brewster."
"Women, I know exactly how it is. I got a house full of them. My wife gave me five girls not one son to call a Junior." I know that shit tough. As much as having a daughter is great and all, niggas hardly ever want a girl far less to have all girls. He lead us through the building, thank God Reina was still sleeping like a baby or this whole building was gon come crashing down. Babygirl got a voice box on her. It ain't gon be no surprise if the entire neighborhood be hearing when she crying at nights.
"Mamas?"
"Yeah baby— ouu this shit nice. Imagine rolling in the deep end with it." She laughed.
"This all you."
"You shitten me."
"Nah, it ain't too late for a push gift right?""You ain't waste no time on that post man."
"No time to waste babyyy."Chapters aren't reviewed. Feel free to point out any typos/errors. Hope it was a good chapter🤍
