I woke up at 5:40 to Glenda kissing me, "good morning" I mumbled against her lips with a smile.

"Good morning, it's time to get up, breakfast is cooked, and dad has already eaten along with Carley," Glenda said when she pulled back, I got up and picked out my outfit for the day a black fit and flare dress and black heels. Glenda and I went to the kitchen and ate breakfast.

"Thanks for making breakfast, it was delicious," I said as we put out plates in the sink.

"Your welcome Doll, how is your leg? Do you think you're good to start training?" Glenda asked.

"My leg is good and I should be fine," I said with a smile.

"Maya, I think I'm going to stay here today," Carley said as she entered the kitchen.

"Okay, I'll call the school and let them know," I said with a smile.

"Thank you," Carley said and left.

"Well, I need to go and get ready. I'll see you after school" I said and gave Glenda a kiss.

"Okay, good luck," Glenda said as I left the kitchen and went to our bathroom to wash up. Once my teeth and hair were brushed and my face washed I grabbed my things to head to school making sure I had my bag with my computer, extra clothes, a rag, two bottles of water, and a mirror. I headed downstairs. I went to the kitchen and grabbed some snacks and a container of leftover soup for lunch. "I'll see you after school," Glenda said and gave me a kiss.

"See you," I said. Chucky came over so I picked him up and made my way to the car, I got in, put Chucky in the passenger seat with my bag between us, and drove to the school. It was quiet as I drove, not even any music was playing.

I pulled into the school and went straight to my classroom, I closed the door behind me and put Chucky down. "So kid, you're Carley's parents now," Chucky said.

"Yeah," I said as I sat down.

"Are you sure you still want to go through with the challenge?" Chucky asked.

"I am, only because I feel like at least one of us will win," I said as I ran my hand through my hair, Chucky nodded as he went to the cupboard and picked out a book. "I'm going out for a few minutes I'll be back," I said standing up and making sure I had my phone.

"Okay kid," Chucky said, I rolled my eyes as I left. I locked the door and went outside the school. I dialled the elementary's school number.

"Hello?" Meredith said.

"Hey Meredith it's Maya, I just wanted to let you know that Carley won't be able to come in today as there has we are going through something and she isn't feeling well enough to attend," I said.

"Okay Maya, thanks for letting me know," Meredith said.

"You're welcome," I said and Meredith hung up. I ran my hand through my hair and let out a sigh.

"What happened Maya?" Jake asked as he and Rachel were in front of me.

"Carley's parents died so we are legally her adoptive parents," I said.

"How did they die?" Rachel asked.

"They were on the flight that crashed in Italy. We're just waiting to hear back from a friend when we can fill out the rest of the paperwork as her parents already set us up to be the next caretakers of Carley if anything were to happen to them" I said as we came to my door.

"I'm going to go to my room, you guys can continue the conversation," Rachel said and left, I unlocked my door.

"So how long have you known Carley?" Jake asked as we headed inside.
