PROM FEVER

one day to go till prom.

if you were to walk into school like denis and elijah did, you'd see everyone proposing to everyone. the hallways smelled of romance and loneliness. there's always people who exist on the opposite end of the spectrum.

denis and elijah were walking together, the last time they did that, kate announced her fake pregnancy. this time they ran into The Assholes™

"aw! look at our favorite couple!!" noah smiled big.

"where you guys headed to? hell? because it's for sure not prom or heaven!" charlie made all of them laugh loudly.

before denis and elijah could flip them off, kate came up from behind, "oh, believe me they'd rather be in hell than be at prom or heaven with people like you."

elijah and denis cheered their former nemesis on, The Assholes™ were too embarrassed to stand there so they left.

elijah was right about kate being not as bad i thought, denis recalled.

"so, who's your prom date?" elijah leaned against the lockers while talking to kate.

she chuckled, "my imaginary boyfriend."

denis and elijah shared a look, they felt bad. especially elijah, as kate's friend he had to help her out as always.

"look, even though you're not a gay man with a pretty face and a hefty balance, i still wanna ask you out to prom with us!" elijah smiled.

kate gasped and held her chest, "thanks! what the hell and denis- i thought you'd never go to prom with me because you're not stupid."

denis rolled his eyes playfully, "i lied, okay? we wanna take you out to prom, you with us?"

kate nodded in agreement and they hugged it out,

"we're gonna be the hottest people there!!" elijah exclaimed, making everyone laugh.

denis was laying down on his bed, thinking about what him and elijah would do at prom then his day dreaming session was interrupted by his dad barging into the room screaming about something.

the volcano had erupted, denis didn't bother to open his eyes while his dad went on a tangent. he was calling him a failure and disappointment, nothing new.

"this belongs to a girl right? our neighbor who's your ex girlfriend, right?" his dad saying that peaked denises interest.

he opened his eyes and saw him holding the dress he had bought with elijah, denis sat up on his bed quickly.

"you guys probably did the thing and she left this here, right?" it sounded like his dad was assuring himself.

denis had a huge realisation, it was uncomfortable and messed up. his dad was okay with him being a bully, beating up people and even sleeping around but he'd never be okay with him being girly or god forbid, gay.

denis was angry and he was having intrusive thoughts. he wanted to own up to the fact that the dress didn't belong to any girl but him.

"no, it's mine that's why you probably found it in my closet." he did it, he said it without even making eye contact with his dad.

it felt like denis was going to be hunted by his dad. he was a helpless deer and his dad a tiger. denis did what every kid would have, he pulled the blanket over his head to savw himself from the monster, which was his dad who yelled profanities and threatened to disown him.
