it was torcher to remember all those times kate got bullied, slut-shamed and ignored. elijah felt terribly bad and saw his own reflection in her. he decided to keep his word and go back for his friend.

"i'm going to go out there and help my friend, you can come if you want." he got up.

denis was hesitant with his reply, actually there was no reply at all. elijah was upset at him for lying about staying by his side forever, he didn't understand his friendship values.

but at the same time, it was understandable if denis wanted a break from everything. elijah walked out of the forest down to their school. the building was lit up and music was blaring so hard you could hear it from miles away.

there was no one outside, all the crowd was having fun inside. elijah took in a deep breath to prep himself before entering his school. he had a mini heart attack when he felt a hand on his shoulder.

he cautiously turned around only to be faced with denis.

"i thought you got bored of me." elijah stated in a sarcastic tone.

"you are not going anywhere without me, let's go get kate together." denis held out his hand and elijah complied.

amidst of everything, they didn't even realise they were wearing dresses. when they entered prom, all eyes were on them. elijah and denis felt judged and unsafe. none of them imagined being in the spotlight would be this bad. they could feel The Assholes™ back-bitching about them.

kate spotted them and ran towards them, she hugged them both. kate didn't waste much time talking to them because she read the room,

"let's go outside." she said and the boys agreed.

the exit door was connected to a bunch of stairs. they sat down on them because they were too tired to walk far away from school. the night was cold and full of uncertainty, it was way past 9pm and it was starting to get cloudy. it was about to rain.

all three of them ended up leaning against the railing, smoking cigarettes and talking.

"imagine being the hottest people in prom and not even being there." elijah joked making everyone chuckle.

"you might think sitting out here is boring and but I think this is the best prom ever." kate stated.

"yeah this day will go down in history, this goes out to every one who has ever felt left out or hated." denis spoke.

"cheers." they clinked with their cigarettes.

"kate is right, i couldn't have asked for a better prom. i am glad to be celebrating it with people I like instead of horny, homophobic teenagers who happen to be our classmates." elijah said.

"yeah, those guys suck. i am glad you two came or else i was lonely." kate was honest.

"i am glad we became friends." elijah rested his head on her shoulder.

"and i'm glad we became boyfriends." denis rested his head on elijah's shoulder, keeping the cycle going.

they chuckled.

"with you guys, i don't feel lame. we're all infamous losers to the school but I think we're the best kind of people to ever run into each other. that's the realisation I made today." kate said.

"you wanna know the realisation i made today? you're odd but in the best way possible." denis said to kate.

they had a moment of silence. denis heard a familiar sound and shushed everyone. he lightly head banged when he realised what song was playing.
