Unlock the Past

Chapter 14

The breath that once filled my lungs left, and I felt empty with out it. My eyes were still attached like skin is attached to flesh on him. I start to blink rapidly, but he was still there. My body was shutting down, but instead of letting the darkness take over me; I ran from it. Forgetting all of my belongings I got up and sprinted towards the school.

I could hear Cameron and Lilly's shouts from behind me, but only ran harder.

I turn to the main hallway but I'm thrown back. I close my eyes, waiting for the impact, but it never comes. I open my eyes and my heart stops.

Ashton looks down at me with concern and surprise clouding his eyes. "Chloe? What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost!" My eyes widen when I remember what I was doing prior and i scramble out of his muscular arms and make my escape. "Wait! Coles, where are you going?"

I glance back but continue out the door and start running down the street blindly.

Ashton's POV:

This mornings episode won't stop playing through my head. I've heard nothing from Mike and no one knows what this asshole looks like. 

My thoughts are interrupted by a heart breaking scream from the courtyard. Chloe. I start to run towards there to see what's going on and I start to hear Cam and Lilly yelling Chloe's name. I start to sprint around the corner but something runs straight into me, and on reflex I reach out and catch who I've plowed over.

My eyes widen when I see a terrified Chloe, cowering in my arms. I feel my tense arms relax. "Chloe? What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost!" My voice sounds so scared. But Chloe doesn't answer. Instead she wretched herself out of my arms and began to run away.

What happened out there?

"Wait! Coles, where are you going?" But she was already out the door. I stand there completely confused.

"Ashton! Where did she go?" I turn and see Lilly looking so worried. Cam follows behind her very pissed looking.

"Yeah I uh just saw her. What happened? She looked like she saw a ghost!" I run my hand through my hair but pause when I see their faces.

"I think we just saw her kidnapper." Cameron says. I suck in a breath and stumble back.

"Where is the son of a bitch!?" I growl.

"Ashton calm down, we called the police and they're searching the area right now." Lilly's voice cracks are she starts pacing frantically. "Where could she have gone? She can't be out there right now!"

We all transfer our weight on each foot and I take action and head out to the first police man I see. Because Chloe is human and the case was very public, my pack can't take care of sightings like this. The police do, and it's driving me and my wolf crazy. 

"Please tell me you found him," the policeman looks surprised at my tone. He clears his voice but I can already tell what he's going to say.

"I'm sorry, son. We didn't find any trace of him. Couldn't even see him on the cameras." I let out an exasperated sigh and angrily go to my car.

I gotta find her before he does.
