Chapter Seven : Red & White Roses
MIKE'S DIARY : If I'm being honest, my sixteenth birthday wasn't even that bad, dad made the party all about his company but that was already expected, mom had another breakdown over the fact that I'm now sixteen and my sister was the only one sane enough to give me a proper congratulation.
It was around 3:00pm when the decorators bombarded the house with balloons, confettis, flags, fireworks and all the birthday crap, I could tell that my dad was already writing his speech about the company since he had people on our living room doing the job for him, I walked to the kitchen and it was already full of people baking, cooking and even cleaning at the same time, I rushed to grab at least a banana before they saw me there. I went to the garden outside, not the one with weeds and stuff, the one with actual flowers, trees and bushes. My mom was there so I gave her a quick hug and looked at what she was doing.
"So what do you think, red or white roses?" She asked while holding two roses.
"Can I choose both?" I asked her back.
"No you gotta choose one, so, red or white?"
"White, they look more stunning compared to the orange sandy ground."
"Wow , good observation, birthday boy!" She quickly gave me another hug before she went back to her gardening "In fact, maybe I'll paint the white ones red if I get bored of the red ones!"
"Are you the Red Queen from Wonderland now?" I said before she ignored my joke.
"I almost forgot," She stops "Matt is coming to spend the rest of the day with you, you're okay with that?"
"The Matt?" I asked her "Matt was supposed to be in England, what is he doing here?"
"You know how he is obsessed with right timing, he knows it is your birthday so he took a plane and in any minute he is gonna be here!" She continued "Now can I go back to my roses or you're going to ask more questions about your cousin?"
"Half cousin!" I corrected her "And you're right, I'm gonna see if he's here already".
I left quickly and ran towards the entrance of the house, I could see the cameras that were installed last summer, someone got inside our house looking for files in some random person and ended up getting caught, and now my dad has cameras installed in every corner of the house, of course not inside his office for some reason, and let's not talk about the security guards, it seems like there is hundreds of them, but there was only one who I deeply despise, Big J.
He is probably one of the minions from satan and I'm almost sure of it, this man came inside my house and destroyed the pure part of my soul, he took something that wasn't his and ran away with it and laughed in my face, the most crazy thing is that my dad knows, he knows what Big J did.
I made my peace with it, I don't talk to Big J, he doesn't talk to me, every time somebody asks about the screams I made last summer I say that it was because I had a nightmare, my sister was out with my mom when all happened, so who would believe me? The police wouldn't, the FBI wouldn't, the church wouldn't, then who would've? God? Could he hear me? And if he could then why hasn't he done anything to make Big J pay for his sins? Even if God forgave him, I would still remember him throwing me across the room and pointing a knife at me for no reason.
I waited a couple minutes until I saw a car coming towards the entrance, it stopped and one of the door opened and there he was, Matt Shan, his blonde straight hair shined with the sun's light, his white and rose skin made his freckles on his face appear, the tall boy of seventeen years old had one of the strongest arms I ever seen, he surely would beat me up in a basketball game, he slowly came towards me and hugged and then gave me a high five.
