Chapter Six : Mike & John
JOHN'S DIARY :
"So your plan is to go to your sister's house, ask her for help, then lastly go to your dad's house and simply go to his office?" I asked, trying to see if the plan sounded as horrible as it sounded when Mike said it.
Mike then nodded.
"That's the craziest thing you ever said, it won't work!" I tried opening his eyes with words.
"It will John I'm telling you, we're not going to cause any trouble to anyone, we're simply going to his office and see if there's anything about your dad!" Mike then explained it again.
"You say it as if it's that easy, we are going into someone's house, inside their property without their permission, that's already an issue on its own!"
"You want us to do what then? Call my dad and ask if we can go over to his house?" Mike ironically asked as he made sure to look mad.
"I'm just saying, this looks too easy and insane, there's no way we're actually talking about this!"
"We're doing this because your dad was killed by my own father, and my father is living freely without getting punished for what he did, that's why we're doing this John".
Mike never sounded so serious, his intentions were clear to me, or at least I thought it was, he knew his father did something bad towards someone, and now that he has the chance to do something about it, he will. Unfortunately his plan sounded insane, we only see these things in dramas and movies, suddenly those things became real and it was time for me to choose if I actually wanted to keep going with it.
"Do you think your sister still wants to see you?" I asked.
"We just don't talk because of my father, he is the only one getting on the way." Mike answered.
"What do you mean?"
"Last time I met my sister, she said our dad goes by her house from time to time, so we just gotta be careful with that!"
I suddenly got quiet and so did Mike.
"You think this will work? I asked.
"Only if we do it right" He answered shortly and precisely.
A sudden laugh came into our conversation but it was cut short by the sound of my cell phone ringing. I answered the call and came to the realization it was the same police officer that interrogated me at the high school.
Mike looked at me while I was on the phone the whole time, and I tried giving him signs that everything was okay, but for some reason he didn't believe me. I turned the phone off and put it on the table, by the time I did that Mike was ready to throw me out of the window if I didn't tell him what the call was about.
"So ? What did they say?" Mike asked eagerly.
"The case is closed" I bluntly said.
"What do you mean? They barely investigated!"
"I know!" I scratched my head over and over "Why would they close so soon?"
"Well because he killed himself, so why would it have a case in the first place?" Mike ignored the truth by shouting those words, I made sure to give him a look of uncertainty.
One thing was practically lying to others, but Mike was willing to lie to himself by saying Oliver killed himself when we both knew he didn't.
"I know what you're thinking, but it helps" Mike tried his best.
