Chapter Thirteen : Mind Play
MIKE'S DIARY (2 MONTHS BEFORE GRADUATION) : John really needs to make better toasts, it's not that hard, you just get the sliced bread, you put on the toaster and check the level of...toastness ? It is really not that hard.
I woke super early that day, I rushed to the shower in the hope of warm water. I threw the shampoo into my hair, a loud bam came into the door, John screamed as he punched the white door, I screamed back at him trying to understand his words, but nothing came out of that, I pulled the shower curtains to the side and a dimming light shined through my eyes, I then saw nothing but a little door in front of me, the darkness around made it impossible to know where I was standing, yet I was certain I was somewhere.
I looked at myself and I had a light blue formal suit with white details of a small paper boat. I walked to the little door as it became bigger. As soon as I reached the handle, I fastly opened it and saw a large gray sky with red flamingos flying as high as an airplane. The mountains around the land were huge with plain ground at the top, the trees were light green with neon orange edges, it was eye blinding. The ground was stone cold with marks of veins swirling around and the wind would blow only in the feet and not the rest of your body. I continued to walk towards the path that was created as I walked through the light airy grass. A sound of airplane hovered my head, and as I looked at the sky, a giant fire ball is thrown through the clouds, the sound of animal and creatures being terrified reached the land, I could see a fire staining the middle of the forest, so I ran through the trees, which it oddly curled as I walked through them.
I reached the fire and saw a woman standing, multiple small bottles tagged as tears all around her feet. I could see she wasn't bothered by the fire, she was embracing it, the sparkles of the fire fell into the little bottles, and somehow the tears turned into gold. It was beautiful to see, but disturbing at the same time.
I stepped aside as I looked around me, the trees were crying with their wooden tears, the grasses got lower to the ground, and time rushed into night, all of the stars were staring at my soul, the woman screamed in pain as the fire covered her, its flames made a dress for her body. I continued to walk through the land, the night was a blanket covering me, the silence of it all made it safer, there was only me in that forest, me and my consciousness.
I got into a vast desert land, the same mountains were around, but this time, the sky seemed bigger, it felt like I was inside a temple with a high ceiling. You know that there is a ceiling, but it is so far from reach, it almost seemed like there was no ceiling at all.
A little house stood in the middle of the desert, as I walked over to the house, in hope of finding some sort of help, a dead bird lay with blood gushing from his throat, the blood was no ordinary, it had dark feathers mixed with it. As I got close to the house, a flamingo came from the inside. It put a spear on its back, the spear had a small fire symbol. The flamingo got around and sensed me, he knew I wasn't from there, it knew I was there for something else.
The flamingo looked surprised at the sight of me. Moments after the flamingo pinched itself and said it's house was burning even before catching fire. The flamingo runs to the inside of the house as an attempt to save some things. I also tried to help, but my body was not able to do so, I only could see the fire and the little house, but not get close to it. The flamingo cried in pain too as it saw its house falling to pieces.
A little box of light in the sky appeared and everything that once was around me became dust. A strong voice came from above, the voice would only speak in a different language, but with every sentence ending with a B. The man would say hundreds of things all at once, and a back pain would come shortly after to affect me. It was weird, it was the first time in that land where I felt something real, every other sense I had in that land was erased. A tenacious sound exploded the dark realm and the sky transformed into its normal form, but this time, I was in front of a big wall, and behind the wall, a colosaod castle.
The door of the big wall opened and my eyes directed to the castle, a cold breeze hit my entire body this time. I continued to step into the stones scattered in the path ahead of me. Voices surrounded my ears as they screamed for me to stop, I wasn't able to, even if I wanted. The gates from the castle got wide open, and the fire that followed me came right back. I could sense the warmth reaching. A tall figure appeared in front of me, the man had a black tuxedo and two watches in each arm, his shoes were dipped in blood and his sunglasses made himself appear intimidating, more than he already was. He stretched his arms for me to hold into one of his hands, the right hand was empty, and he held a gun in the left hand.
It wasn't quick enough until I decided to reject both of his hands. The figure seemed surprised, his face changed fastly, the creepy smile became a blood blank face, the figure got ten times taller.
The figure held me as he walked to the top of the castle. It wasn't night anymore, it was almost sunset, the sun reached the mountains far away, and the castle was all covered with darkness. The shadows threw me away like a used doll, and as soon as I reached the cold, hard ground, I woke up with the water hitting my face as I laid down on the bathroom floor, everything looked normal, I simply got up and decided to face another day.
