Selenia woke up to the sunrise beaming on her face, she was wrapped in a cocoon of warmth while she watched the dust particles float through the sunlight.
Her brows furrowed as she remember the previous night. She wasn't sure how she felt...
Elio Galli had just arrived in the states on business. He has recently been handed down the Italian mafia by his late guardian Leonardo Rossi. The transition has been difficult, to say the least, the family has not taken to the new Don well as he is not blood to the Rossi family.
Elio was taken in by Leo as a child. Leo had stumbled upon him in the back streets of Vince, Italy. Both Elio's parents had been killed and he had nowhere to go but the streets. Leo raised Elio as if he were his own, and Elio loved him like a son would a father. Leo did have a blood child, Alessia. However Elio was older and had been in the family longer, so when Leo died, he was given the Don title.
However, being who Elio was, having massive respect for the Rossi family and the mafia as a whole he offered the position as Don to Alessia, as it was her blood right. She declined though, stating she was too young and wanted to live her life. She eventually wanted to leave the mafia one day and live as a safe, free individual. Alessia loved her brother, she knew he would make a wonderful Don, and so did the inner circle of the mafia. However, there was a large portion who did not like him.
Not only was Elio not blood, which was disrespectful to many in the Rossi family, but he was also black. Just like in the United States, Italy struggles with racism, if not even more so.
In hopes to make his mafia members accept him, Elio planned to travel to every base the Italian mafia had, and meet all the members he could. Elio was confident in his skills and knowledge to lead the mafia, but he had a deep respect for the Rossi family and did not want to go against their wishes. But in the end, it was his love for Leo that made him accept the position, he could not go against his father after everything he had done for him.
So here he was, on his way the main American base of his mafia to meet everyone. He had left Alessia in charge in Italy. Although she complained she accepted the responsibility, knowing her brother would be home soon.
Elio was nervous. He couldn't stop fidgeting in the back seat of the car. He couldn't help but want to please everyone. Though he knew that wasn't a quality of a don. He needed to make them respect him, not try and woo them. That thought he steeled himself. Face remaining blank and emotionless, and posture becoming rigid. He's seen Leo do this many times. Growing up in the mafia you're also taught how to do this at a young age, if only for the public's eye.
It seems Elio has had to be intimidating since he has become Don. There never seems to be a break, unless he's alone of course.
The car came to a stop and pulled Elio out of his thoughts. With one deep breath, his driver opened his door and he stepped out. He walked up to the big mansion. Although it wasn't as beautiful as the one in Italy it was still a sight.
The mansion had a pristine yard. No grass blade too long, no flower not budded on the bushes. The mansion stood two stories high. With a fountain out front. It was designed by an American architect.
