Chapter 2: The Sleepover

It's been a month or two since Luz and Anne met each other at the playground. The two had become great friends ever since that day and they had even introduced their families to one another. Turns out that they lived a block apart from each other which they were very happy about because that means they can visit each other easily at any time they want to.

Luz's mother Camila Noceda worked as vet at the local animal shelter. She was more than happy to find that Luz made a friend who was nice and supportive towards her. The same goes for Mr and Mrs Boonchuy, both worked at the restaurant 'Thai Go' downtown. They were also happy that Anne finally found a friend after how long she had always been alone outside her family.

Because of the two girls friendship, both families constantly visited one another and formed a pretty close friendship as well. But also because Camila was curious about Los Angeles and it's surrounding areas, having only moved in about 3 months ago.

One evening, Luz came up to Camila after eating dinner "Mama?"

"Yes mija?"

"Can we stay over at Anne's house tonight?"

"You want to have a sleepover with her?"

Luz nodded her head. Camila thought for a moment before shrugging "Sure why not? You haven't had any sleepovers with her before, so this could probably be your first"

"Really?"

"Well I'm going to call Anne's mom and ask her if we can stay there tonight. Wait here for a minute" Camila went over to call Mrs Boonchuy

A few minutes later Camila came back with a smile "She says yes we can" Luz cheered and hugged her mother saying thank you over and over

After packing their pajamas, changing clothes, Luz's sleeping bag, and other items, Camila and Luz went down to Anne's house. Since their house wasn't far from each other, they decided to walk instead of taking the car. Once they arrived there, Luz knocked on the door and was greeted by Mrs Boonchuy.

"Oh hi there Luz"

"Hi Mrs Boonchuy. Is Anne home right now?"

"Yes she's upstairs. Go ahead and see her"

Luz didn't need to be told twice as she dashed upstairs to Anne's room.

"Hey Bea. I hope you won't mind having me and Luz stay here for the night" Camila called her by a nickname she gave her

"Oh not at all Cami. I told you I quite enjoy having your company here. Especially considering-" Mrs Boonchuy was interrupted by a scream from upstairs. It was Mr Boonchuy of course

"Is he?"

"Yep, horror game night again. I told him he couldn't handle it but he insisted"

"Why does it have to sound so loud?!" the poor man shrieked some more

Mrs Boonchuy sighed "Let's just go inside Camila"

Upstairs, unbothered by Mr Boonchuy's scream. Luz went over to Anne's door and knocked "Anne? It's me Luz!"

"Oh Luz. Hang on a second" a moment later Anne opens the door only to be hugged tightly by her friend

"Anne! I'm so glad to see you!"

"Heh I'm glad to see you too Luz. So I'm guessing you're here to have a sleepover"

"Yeah, it's my first ever sleepover with you and I'm excited for it, aren't you excited as well?"
