....................................................

Imani was asleep when her phone rang.

"Hallo."

"What are you doing?" Asked a slurring voice. She laughed, rolling on her back.

"Asleep. What about you?"

Matthew chuckled, a bottle of beer in one hand while the other held tightly to the phone.

"Sitting on a balcony."

Imani sat up on the bed, rubbing her eyes awake.

"You're drunk." she stated in a whisper. Matthew nodded even though she couldn't see him.

"Are you safe?"

"Hmm,"

"But you left Pete."

"I'm as safe as I ever will be."

"What if someone takes a photo of you?" she asked with concern. She didn't know how the world of the rich works, but she knew a photo of drunken Matthew would cost a small fortune.

"I'm in a private club."

She knew how discreet private clubs could be so she let out a sigh of relief.

"I like it when you're worried about me," he mumbled, struggling to get up. Imani did not say anything; she just pressed the phone to her ear to feel the gruff of his voice.

"I would like to bring you here soon."

"But you know we can't be seen together."

"Don't worry, only very few people will see us, and the guys promise me they're discrete."

"What's the name of the club?"

"Pulse," Matthew replied, full erect, with a hand on a balustrade.

"I've heard of it."

"You have?"

Imani smiled at his slurring.

"I wish I could see you right now. You sound like you look adorable, drunk, slurring, and possibly tottering."

"I never totter," he said, appalled and cussing loud when his body hit the door to get himself back into the room they were all in drinking the night away.

"Is that why you're drunk calling me."

He maffled under his breath. "Tell me something good."

"I miss you," Imani told him. She was already awake, moving to the kitchen to pick a glass of water while they talked.

"What else?"

"You're adorable."

"Hmm, what else?"

"Are you fishing for comments?"

"Yes."

Imani burst out laughing again. She was beginning to like drunk Matthew. He was more vulnerable and honest.

"I think you're the most beautiful man ever to walk the earth.

Matthew didn't say anything at first, but as drunk as he was, he realized, at that moment, that Imani would never change her mind about their relationship. She intended to walk away in four months, and nothing he said would stop her.

"I think you're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen."

She laughed consciously.

"You're just saying that."
