.................................................................After breakfast, Imani pulled Jamie to her room, with Matthew following closely behind them. When they got in, she told him to sit on the couch near the window because they needed to talk.
"Am I in trouble?"
Imani didn't know why, but she felt some sort of joy when he asked that question. She had done an excellent job raising him; she should pat herself on the back, she thought, kissing him on the forehead while shaking her head.
"No, you've been applaudable."
"What does that mean?" He curiously asked, narrowing his eyes at her, thinking she was tricking him into something.
"It means you've been good."
"Oh, is that why Matt is here?" Imani threw Matt an anxious look and then smiled at Jamie. Her heart beating loudly as she knelt in front of her brother, taking his hands in hers.
"He is here because we want to tell you something important. " Jamie looked at Imani in apprehension, the sparkle in his eyes disappearing as he waited for what he deemed as bad news.
"Your headaches have come back?" his ocean blue eyes filled with tears, tightening his small hands around Imani's in a gesture of comfort. Matt shot her a concerned look, but she ignored it.
"No, no, baby. Matthew and I want to tell you we are getting married." His eyes widened in shock. He did not entirely understand the concept, but he knew the basics.
"He is going to live with us?" there was excitement in his voice. Imani relaxed. She thought he would feel insecure, but she should have known Jamie would embrace Matt.
"No. We are going to live with him." she corrected him, lovingly ruffling his hair.
"That is dope. I like his house." He exclaimed, lifting his face to look at Matt, who smiled at him.
"You like his house too," Jamie said, staring at her, waiting for confirmation that she indeed liked Matthew's house.
She nodded in agreement. "And, we are going to have a baby." Imani said, sitting beside him, watching him absolve the news.
"Like Serena?"
Both Imani and Matt chuckled, and she said, "smaller than Serena."
"Will she love me?" Imani's heart tightened at the fear and insecurity in his voice. This is the feeling she thought he would have with the news of her and Matt, that a baby would be the one to make him feel it did not hurt less.
"We don't know whether it's a boy or a girl, but Matt and I know they will love you."
"Are you sure?"
"Of course. Why wouldn't anybody love you as much as I do?"
He flashed a smile at both of them, happy again. As young as Jamie was, he knew, without a doubt, that Imani loved and adored him.
"Are you okay with the news?"
He nodded. And Imani leaned over and kissed his forehead. "Go play. Matt and I need to talk. I love you." she whispered.
"I love you too," he whispered back.
Once he was out, Imani exhaled loudly, getting up to sit on the bed. She knew Matt wanted to know about the headaches.
"They started when mom died," she said without waiting for him to ask.
He did not say anything at first but looked at her with the expectation of the whole story. He sat there, and for the millionth time, he acknowledged her strength and resilience.
"I get them when I'm scared. When I first went to the hospital, the doctors gave me painkillers, but upon another visit, after tests, the doctor who examined me said it was physiological."
"When was the last time you got one?" Matthew asked . "When we broke up," she said in a whispered, afraid he might blame himself.
"What were you afraid of then? I would imagine having made the decision yourself meant you wouldn't be scared of the relationship."
"I was scared you would fall in love with someone else." Imani snapped at him as she remembered how soon he had started dating.
"Didn't last long, did it?" He laughed at her jealously tone.
"I was never in love with Olivia. I was going to get into a contractual marriage with her, but before I could bring it up, father Josè called with the news that would bind you and me forever."
She smiled happily, unconsciously rubbing her hand across her stomach. Matthew saw it, and he stood to walk to her.
Kneeling before her, he took her hands in his just as she had done with Jamie. "I'm sorry you've had a rough life." she shrugged, thinking how great it was to be here with him.
"So did you." She whispered, pulling one of her hands to caress his face.
"I hope you'll never be scared again."
"Oh, I know I won't." Imani said confidently, "I'm off loading my baggage to you. I know it's unfair, but I promise to carry the lighter load."
"It's okay with me; I'm heavier anyway." Matthew lowered his head towards her, his lips hovering over her, their eyes fixed on each other.
Imani's lips trembled, her eyes fluttering, fighting to keep them open, but she lost the battle when he gently kissed her. She placed her hand on his shoulders, pulling him closer to her as he deepened the kiss.
"We have to go. We have an appointment," he said between kisses.
"No, not yet," she mumbled, falling across the bed and bringing him with her.
"Make love to me first." they shouldn't be late, he knew, but he was Matthew Ocean; what was the need for wealth if he didn't use it to his advantage, and in this case, his satisfaction?
"No, don't remove your clothes," Imani said, stopping him from stripping.
"I can't wait," She said urgently with her hand already unbuttoning his pants.
Matthew freed his dick, and then lifted her dress. She wore a thong, and he parted one side and sunk deep into her.
Imani groaned, wrapping her legs around his waist. She didn't care how uncomfortable they both were as long as she got to feel him inside her.
"I love you so much," His voice trembled, tightly holding onto her as if life depended on it.
She groaned when she came, and he followed with a moan that sounded painful.
"I love you too."
