Imani slept with Matt that night. She had planned to wake up before the rest of the household, but she slept until late morning.
"Good morning," she heard him whisper, his hand caressing her cheek.
"Hi," she responded, hiding her face in his chest. Matthew's breath caught, thinking how great it felt waking up with her. This had been what he had wanted and wished for since their affair began.
"I can't believe I finally got to sleep with you through the night," Matthew drawled, lifting her face so he could kiss her.
"You look more beautiful in the morning," Imani blushed, playfully smacking his arm. "It's true." he insisted, combing his fingers through her hair.
"And you look gorgeous," She told him. He winked at her, rolling her so he could get on top of her. She was happy, she felt the emotion. Imani realized she had never really felt joy in her entire life without wondering what tomorrow might bring. Looking at Matt at that moment, she knew this was what happiness felt like.
She would never again have to worry about money, she thought, and a little guilt filled her because it felt as if part of the reason she was with Matt was for his money.
"I would still love you even if you went bankrupt."
Matthew's eyes widened a moment before he dissolved into laughter.
"Where the hell did that come from?"
Imani bit her lip cheekily and said, "I was just thinking how happy I was."
His raised a brow like he didn't quite understand what she meant.
"I mean. I have never been really happy, Matt. I've always had something to worry, especially money. Now I don't have to."
Her face turned red, feeling awkward. She didn't want him to think she was a gold digger or anything, but having money for food, healthcare, and basic living expenses had been what led her to strip. Because it was was good money.
"I know what you mean," he mumbled, kissing her lip, his eyes closed as if in worship.
"I know what it means to have nothing. And luckily, I also know what it means to have everything money can buy. "
She nodded, remembering the things he had told her.
"Have you ever wanted to know your parents?" She asked softly, parting her legs to allow Matt to lie comfortably between them.
He stared at her; then she realized he was looking through her like he was lost in a memory.
"Yes. When I was younger, but as I grew up, I didn't care who they were. They had abandoned me."
"But what if they didn't?"
He shrugged like it didn't matter one way or the other.
"What if they did not? What if something terrible happened?"
Matthew had thought of all this once, but what did it matter? They were not part of his life, and frankly, he did not want to find out some tragic stories about him or his family.
"I don't care. However, I wouldn't keep our children from finding out if they ever want to."
Imani grinned, gently kissing his lower lip. "I love you." She whispered, looking into his eyes, wanting him to see how much she loved him.
"I love you too."
They showered together, playing in the shower like teenagers discovering sex for the first time.
