"PANCAKES OR TOAST?"
riya looked up and pointed 2.
"man, i wanted pancakes!" he groaned.
eiya laughed at her roomate.
"what are we doing today?" she said in sign language.
it took sometime, but she knew a little bit of it.
if she didn't she always had a pen and paper.
chris came over with toast and picked up the paper.
"want to go to the hardware shop? i want to make a cupboard"
she gave him a really? look.
"why are you so judgy! are all people from wherever you're from this mean?." chris laughed.
"i'm from london, you idiot" she wrote.
"oh yeah, i forget you're british too." he sighed.
"anyways, i was watching a movie, and this person was making cupboards... i want to try." chris laughed.
riya knew he would give up after a few minutes but went along with him.
after knowing chris bradley almost for a year, she knew he loves to try out things, but gets bored quickly.

ever since the encounter she had with chris, where he offered her breakfast, he took her to his place as she was basically homeless.
(people in the 60s were nice. now i have trust issues cause everyone be so sus rn)
chris was a really nice man, he helped her with her living condition, also helped her in securing a job.
now riya worked as a librarian in the dallas public library.
the non racist version...

they went to the hardware shop, "you want something?" he asked.
riya thought about it and said, "paint."
her voice was slowly coming back.
but it was raspy.
she didn't talk much, she didn't want to damage her vocal chords.
"random but okay." chris laughed as both of them split the bill.
"thanks for shopping." he employee said as he handed them the bag.
"thankyou..." chris paused to read the man's name, "david."

after working on making a cupboard for about 30 minutes, chris gave up.
riya repainted her room, cause the painting was chipped.
the landlord had told them if they wished to paint the house, they can.
riya closed the door and painted with her powers.
after being done in 2 minutes, she sat inside for 2 hours... making chris think she was painting.
while waiting, riya was reading pride and prejudice.

"so, you have these little devices in which you can watch movies and other things? it's not just for calling anymore?"
riya laughed, "yes." she answered.
her voice had gotten so much better, but she still had trouble, so she switched writing on a paper, and talking simultaneously.
like she was doing now...
when she was telling chris the truth.
the truth.
"so, you're sister in law... who also had magical powers ended the world. but you're other brother in law who looks thirteen is a fifty eight year old man... time traveled and got you stuck here? and you can run? like run run?" chris asked.
"wait, i confused myself." riya mumbled, "they're not my in laws!" riya wrote.
"you were close enough." chris waved his hands at her.
"so, future huh?" he said and they laughed.

"dave it fun!" she wrote and laughed.

"you made grammatical mistake in your article, you know that?" riya asked chris not looking up from the paper.
"whot? where?" he ran and grabbed the paper.
"it's you're not your..." she laughed, "who made you a reporter?"
"very funny, don't you have books to arrange?" he mocked.
"don't you have english classes?" she laughed at him.
"how did you not annoy the crap out of ben?"
"meh, he was used to it."

"stop laughing at me!" riya whined while dave and chris choked on their coffee.
"who told you blond streaks were a good idea?" dave asked her.
riya slumped on her chair and pouted, "the lady in the salon."
"yeah, she says that to make money darlin' and you fell for it." chris wheezed.
"i need new friends." she mumbled loud enough for them to hear.
"who would be friends with you?" chris asked.
"you two were dumb enough." she laughed.

"i can't give up on them chris..." she sighed.
"but, you go there every time with the hope of finding them... but you come back empty handed."
"i'm fine chris..." she said blanly.
"wall are thin darlin' i can hear you cry." he smiled at her sadly.
"i can't give up on them."
"i'm not asking you too... just don't keep your hopes up. i hate seeing you sad."
