Chapter 38

Addie’s P.O.V

My arms were wrapped around a warm, solid torso, my head resting on a chest. I breathe in through my nose, inhaling the calming scent of mint and wood smoke. The scent of Theo. Instinctively, I held him closer, opening my eyes. Pale, creamy light flooded through the window, and I lifted my head off Theo’s chest, trying to get a look through. I turned and looked at Theo, smiling softly. His face was peaceful in sleep, hair flopping into his closed eyes. I brushed it out the way, kissing his forehead softly, pressing myself against his warm body. As he stirred, I caught a glimpse of the window.

“Wow!” I cried, leaping out of bed and dashing to the window sill. I heard Theo turn at my loud shout.

“What is it?” He mumbled. I looked at him gleefully as he pressed his face sleepily into my pillow.

“It’s snowing! Come look, come look!” (A/N: I don’t know what it’s like for most of you guys, but in England it snows mostly in December/January. Just clearing up any confusion :) A/N)

Theo didn’t seem to share my enthusiasm. He pushed himself out of my bed, his tee-shirt rumpled. He rubbed his eyes as I grabbed his hand and pulled him to the window.

“Isn’t it beautiful?” I sighed, staring at the silent, white world our planet had become.

“Yeah.” When I looked at Theo, he was staring at me. I grinned, and hugged him, wrapping my arms around his neck then turning my head on his chest to stare out at the ice capped trees and the pure white stretch of snow covering the garden like a sheet.

“Don’t you like snow?” I asked Theo. He shrugged.

“It’s alright. When I was 13 we had to go and live in Alaska, after just moving from Trinidad. It was freezing, and there was enough snow that year to last me a life time.”

Hearing him talk like that made me suddenly realise how little I really knew him. The thought saddened me slightly.

“You like snowball fights, though, right?” I asked hopefully. He laughed, ruffling my hair.

“Don’t worry; I’m sure I can beat you in a snow fight.”He grinned

“In your dreams.” I laughed. At that moment, the alarm on my phone rang out, Kesha blaring loudly from the speaker. Theo sighed.

“I guess I better get back.” He admitted.

“Just because my alarm went off, doesn’t mean you have to go!” I said hastily. “Don’t be scared of Kesha.”

Theo stared at me, then burst out laughing.

“Kesha doesn’t scare me.” He grinned. “But the idea of your Aunt coming up here and finding me kinda does.”
