Chapter 4

Theo's P.O.V

All of us jammed into Dave's car; well, nearly all of us. There was one last member of the pack who I knew wouldn't come; Zach. Zach was about 40. He hardly ever came out of his room. He lost his mate, and ever since then, he's kept to himself. Belle takes meals to his room, and he'll occasionally occour about once a month; and when we turn into wolves. We all had a kind of respect for him, including Dave, though I have a feeling he's the only one who's not just the teeniest bit afraid of him. I know I am.

The only way to turn a human into a werewolf is to bite them (if they're not born as one). Dave bit me, but it was all because of Zach. One day, whe I was three, Zach savaged me. He hurt me so bad, that I was supposed to have died. Everyone at the hospital thought there was no chance for me, and tossed me in to the morgue. Apparently, my parens were devastated, but I can't remember them, it was so long ago. Perhaps that was a good thing; it might have stopped me living my life, knowing that I'd once had proper, biological parents.

Anyway, once Zach realized what he'd done (he'd been a little bit mental, because this was about the time he lost his wife), he told Dave, who was mad. I'd never seen Dave mad, but I had a feeling it would be terrifying watching him. Dave had marched up to the morgue, and rescued me, as a three-year old, dying child. Then he bit me. Then I changed.

The twins were always chaos to have in the car. They sang along to the radio at the top of thier lungs, and were constantly undoing their seat belts. If we crashed, they'd probably just walk away unharmed, but Dave had been pulled over by the police beore because of them.

The twins had been born wolves. They didn't know their father, who'd been a wolf. Their mother had been disgusted by the fact she'd preduced two baby werewolves, and tossed them out when they were just a month old. Amazingly, the twins managed to trace the nearest werewolf scent, and discovered The Moonstone Pack. Yes, that is the name of our pack.

Ruby-May was 11 when we found her. She has with her a year-old Maddy. Her pack had just been killed. Sometimes, when she thought no-one was looking, she'd stare silently into space, and look incredibly sad. I couldn't blame her. She must've lost everything. Though everyone in this pack was like a sister or a brother (aside from Dave and Belle, who felt like a father and mother), Ruby-May had only lived with us for 5 years. Maddy doesn't remember her parents.

Jared (who was swinging from the car roof) suddenly crashed to the floor. We all sniggered- but then he uncovered a newspaper from last week and we all fell silent. We looked away from the newspaper, and tried desperatly not to meet each other's eyes. I could feel guilt pooling inside me like tears. The newspaper article was about that six-year old boy, Johnny Blue, or something. The reason we all felt guilty (at least, I certainly did) was simple.

That little boy was dead: and we had done it.

Addie's P.O.V

The gate creaked open. I leaned forwrad. The hottest boy I'd ever seen had just come through them. My breath caught. He had messy black hair that hung over his eyes. It made him look incredibly hot and sexy, and just a tiny bit emo. His features were perfect; I could tell from here. His gaze swung and he looked slightly wary, like he was searching for someone who he wasn't sure would be here. His eyes met mine. They were a deep rich brown, with a sort of amber-gold swirling in it. Unnatural, but totally gorgeous. I swallowed. As I've said before, I like bad boys, or ones with dark secrets; this boy spelled trouble. With a promise.

Luna and Funesta broke off in mid-conversation.

"Ooh la la." Luna purred. I breathed in slowly, gripping her arm.

"Looks like we finally have a guy for you, Addie." Funesta nudged me, but she leaned forward, staring in awe.

"He looks nice." It was an understatement. But then again, once you got past the whole "bad boy/ trouble" look, something about him was just nice. His eyes were deep, yet not hard. Perfect.

"Nice? He looks frickin' gorgeous." Funesta sighed.

"Yummy." Luna smiled. I snorted.

"You guys are like carniverous whores. Lay off the poor dude." But Funesta and Luna just burst out laughing. And the boy was smiling too. I hoped he couldn't hear us. Then I mentally rolled my eyes at myself. Of course he couldn't hear us. He was too far away.

"Want him to yourself, don't you?" Funest bumped her hip aginst mine as we stood up.

"Now now, don't be greedy." Luna wagged her finger in my face. "I promise they'll be enough to share."

"Cannibals." I muttered. They let out a song of laughter, and steered me into school. Luna threw the guy a dazzling smile as we went through the doors. I didn't think he saw. I kinda hoped he hadn't. Luna was dazzlingly beautiful. She could hook any guy with just one smile. She'd already been through half the boys in the year. And as selfish and stupid and arragant as it sounded, I didn't want her touching the new guy. I wanted to check him out first.
