XII- Who am I

Noah's is driving silently, he didn't ask me what happened, he seems to understand me. Right now everybody's a stranger in my life, everything is a lie.

My dad and everybody else is calling my phone.

"Nina, maybe you should pick up and let them know you're fine"

I look at Noah who seems to be worried about me. I shouldn't be with him, because just like my family he hurt me, but I'm glad he showed up and rescued me from there. But that makes me think why he came over, what was he doing there?

"Yes, I'll do that when I feel fine".
Noah says nothing, and keeps driving. He seems nervous, maybe I should ask why he showed up"

"Noah, what were you doing at my house?"

"Well, I wanted to see you."

"To see me?"

"Well, yes. And I also want to apologise, I wanted to talk to you and clear everything up, you know that day at my house..."

"Why is that so important to you Noah?"

"First and most importantly, having someone hating you is bad for the business"

My eyes widen in disbelief, he couldn't have gotten things worse, all that is just because he's worried about his family business? Noah looks at me and start laughing, his eyes sparkle and I realise that's the first time I see him smiling.

"It is bad for business I swear. But that's not the reason."
His face softened and he start to blush.
" this may sound stupid to you but, all this time I just couldn't stop thinking of you,  for many days I held myself not to knock on you door, or talk to you at the coffee shop. That's why I came today, to talk."

"So that day at the coffee shop you saw me, you knew I was there?"

"Yes, I was going to talk to you but something came up and I couldn't, until you showed up at the gym with Thobias"

" oh, alright, I'll ignore the part that you know where I work. But since we're here and I can't run back home, you can tell me what is it."

"Before, you've to tell me where we are going because I'm driving for 30 minutes already, I can't take you to your house, nor to mine, so tell me where you want to go"

"Why can't you take me to your house?"

"I assumed you didn't want to because of what happened last time you went there"

"Yes, yes sure I don't want to".

Noah keeps driving until we decide to go to his office at the gymnasium.

"Before I tell you why I showed up, are you okay? I don't want to be invasive but back at your house things seemed tense"

"Yes I'm fine, just say what you wanted to say."

"You can talk to me about it if you want to"

"I don't"

"Alright. I went to your house because I really needed to clear things out, and before you ask why is it a big deal for me let me say, it was just too wrong letting you think I'd ever think what Sophie enquired that day"

"Well, you were about to send me away anyway"

"Because you said you wanted to go. Look, I really didn't think you'd ask for money, and wasn't planning to bribe you not to say anything"

"I should have gone to the police and press charges though"

"What? Nina you were the one who came out of nowhere and bumped into my car, plus, I tried to take you to the hospital and you didn't allow me, that's why we went to my house in the first place"

"I'm not talking about that. I meant what happened when we were in your room. I still have a lot of questions"

"Oh, that. If Sophie hadn't appeared we.."

"Why did it happen Noah, why did you do that?"

Noah clears his throat, looking at me down the couch, he walks to a little table and pours to him a drink that disappears in seconds, he pours another and brings two cups handing me one.
He sits next to me not facing me, his face was emotionless, he was nervous and I could see his hand shaking.
Is this all because of what I asked? This doesn't seem to be the same Noah who wouldn't leave so I can change clothes, who said I was scared of him.
Noah gulp his drink at once placing the cup on the little table in front of us.

"I'm sorry if it happened too fast and that way, if I knew that was all new to you I wouldn't have behaved like that"

"Why didn't you give me privacy when I needed to change clothes?"
He faces me, taking the drink from my hand and putting it away. Without removing his eyes of mine he places his hand on my cheek.

"I think you're really beautiful,  specially in this dress, there's something about you that drives me crazy and steal control of me, I wanted to see you, I wanted to do everything that happened and more"

"Why did you stop then?"

"Nina, you'd regret it"

"And that's a problem? "

"Yes, I want to make things right, at least with you."

"Yes, you're right. I don't even know you. I'm glad you considered it and stopped. I only regret not taking that money your girlfriend Sophie gave me"

We burst out laughing. I check on my phone and it's really late I should leave. Noah suggested I sleep at his house, but I didn't want more accidents to happen so I preferred to stay in a hotel instead. I didn't have my wallet nor credit card so he checked me in in one of his family hotels, and made sure I had the best room.

"You can stay as long you need, see it as a way of asking for apology"

"Thank you, I'll ask someone to grab me some clothes and wallet tomorrow"

"Great, if you need anything just let me know I'll provide it to you"

"Thank you Noah"
He walks towards the entrance, he opens the door and before he walks out he look back at me"

"And uh, Sophie... she's not my girlfriend"
I look at him and smile. He really cares about what I think of him.

"Goodnight Noah."
