TWENTY ONE|GIRLS NIGHT

"That bastard!" Valarie cursed out the boy, pacing back and forth as she tried to figure out why he would break up with her. "I'm still in disbelief."

"You deserve better." Lillian held Birdie close, the pair cuddled up in bed as they watched Valarie. "I knew he was trouble from the moment I saw him and his cute ass walking down the corridor."

"Lil's." The ginger girl silently gestured for Lillian to be quiet. "Birdie, you deserve so much better. Fuck, you even deserve a better break up than that!"

"Why did it have to end?" Birdie crumbled, her nose scrunching, eyes becoming glossy and lips quivering as she choked back her sobs. "Everything we did together? How could it mean nothing? Just last week I was having a water fight with him and his sister. We were happy."

"Men are good at hiding their true feelings." Lillian held Birdie closer, feeling her shirt grow wet as the brunette girl buried her face in her chest. "And they always like to be dramatic when they reveal their true colours. But I must admit, I am just as surprised. I saw the way he looked at you."

"Why does everyone keep saying that?" She snapped, sitting up as she dried her tears with her sleeve. "Everyone keeps telling me that he loved me because of the way he looked at me. It's always how he looked at me."

"Because we've never seen anyone look at you like that before." Valerie stated, sitting on the edge of the bed and placing a comforting hand on Birdie's knee. "Not even Eric looked at you like that. He worshipped the ground you walked on."

"You two really aren't helping." Birdie chuckled, the noise shocking both girls as they turned to look at the sad girl. "I thought you were supposed to be telling me how horrible Billy is, not tell me he loved me. He told me he didn't love me. He could never love someone like me."

"Sorry, Bee." The three girls sat quietly, Valarie and Lillian sharing sympathetic looks as Birdie watched the movie playing on her small television.

"Knock knock." Steve pushed open the door, awkwardly smiling at the three girls. "I brought pizza. Pizza heals."

"Thanks Stevie." Bernadette happily accepted the food, noticing he had gotten it after work as he still adorned his 'Scoops Ahoy' uniform.

"Yeah, thanks Stevie." Val batted her lashes at the older boy, making sure to perk out her chest as he waved good bye and left the room.

"Seriously?" Lily slapped her hand on Valerie's back, trying to knock some sense back into her. "In front of my pizza?"

"What?" The ginger girl held up her hands defensively. "He's hot."

"Ew, no." Birdie cringed, hugging her pizza box closer to her chest. "You'll make my pizza depressed."

"See." The three girls cuddled back in the bed, devouring the free pizza delivered to them as they watched Grease.

"I would let John Travolta into my fun house." Lillian broke the silence, her random statement causing the other two girls to turn their heads slowly in unison, questioning what they had just heard Lillian say.

"Okay, agreed." Val nodded slowly, still trying to understand her logic. "But what goes on in your mind?"

"Yeah, I want to know as well." Birdie added, throwing the empty pizza box beside her bed. "Fun house?"

"I would let Emilio Estevez into my fun house." Valerie stated, using Lillian's choice of wording. "Or Tom Cruise."

"Isn't Tom Cruise really short?" Lily asked, shuffling out the bed to find the next movie to watch. "I like my men tall so I can climb them like a tree."

"Climb them like a tree?" Bernadette questioned her word choice, glancing at Valerie briefly before bursting into laughter. "This is why I love you two."

"I made her laugh!" The blonde girl cheered proudly, smiling widely as she watched Birdie forget about Billy. "I'm officially the better friend."

"I brought chocolate." Valerie argued back, the pair starting to bicker as Birdie sat back and watched, smiling to herself as it felt like the old times before boys. "You were supposed to bring the weed but forgot that."

"He freaks me out." Lillian said defensively, huffing as she sat back in bed, squishing Birdie in the middle.

"He's really sweet if you actually speak to him." Birdie smiled to herself as she thought about her favourite dealer. "He gave me extra last time I went."

"That's because he probably wants to marry you and have hundreds of trailer park babies with you." Val teased her, poking her sides. "You're the Queen of Hawkins High, of course he is going to give you extra. Every guy wants you."

"Every guy but Billy."

"Bad." Lily slapped her arm harshly, giving her a sharp glare as her mood slipped back into a state of depression. "We don't mention the 'B' word."

"Bitch."

"Bastard."

"Bullshit."
