Katherine's pov
Here we are at the race. Frenchie is sneaking in for the stuff and Hughie is with starlight. I say "fastest man in the world...bullshit" annoyed as he wins the race juiced up no doubt. I can feel a stare. I look over my shoulder and I see homelander staring at me. Billy and I stare back and I flip him off as flashbacks of what he did go through my mind. He didn't only just change me and force me to this. Billy doesn't know it but I was carrying our baby. Homelander knew and I begged for mercy for my child and of course the asshole doesn't have a merciful bone in his body. I never told Billy.

It's a bust so we leave and MM shows us popclaw. She took it. "Are you alright?" MM asks me and I nod "yeah why?" "You seem...off." He remarks. I tell him "I'm fine M" Hughie says "run up there and stop her" to me as she kills the guy. I shrug "one less problem for us and one more problem for her." "You let him die" he tells me. I shrug "collateral. Now we have dirt on the bitch and we can use it against a train" a hand grabs my wrist "he wasn't part of this" I look at his hand that's gripping my wrist and say "let me go or I break it off and feed it to you" he asks me "do you not care or have a moral compass" "this line of work doesn't need you to care about everyone you come across. Sometimes you have to let shit play out" I reply and we find her. We black mail her. She looks at me "you're the vampire"

"How do you know me?" I question. "Everyone does. The seven I mean. How you became a supe is a hot topic" she replies. I pin her to the wall by her throat "what. Did they. do.to. me" I snap. She tries to use those things that grow out of her and I say "I can snap your head off your body and shove it up your ass and file my nails at the same time now tell me what they fucking did" she chokes "mutated compound V. T-they called it the Immortal Project or the blood serum" I glare "is there more like me?" "No. You're the only one that worked. The others died" she tells me and I toss her and head out to the balcony and sigh. I hear footsteps approaching but I speed away and back to my apartment.

They injected me with it so I can die like the others but I worked. I was supposed to stay dead. I haven't had my emotions on since butcher left me. I slide off the ring I wear and open the blinds letting myself burn. As I burn I feel the stress leave me. All my emotions that slipped through the cracks die. I'm pulled into the shadows "what the hell were ya thinkin standin in the sun without your ring on!? Huh?! Are ya tryin to die on me" it's butcher. I didn't even notice him come in. I slide the ring on "I'm fine" "you were letting yourself burn. That ain't fine" he tells me. "I needed to know how it felt. Now I do. I'm fine." Heading to my room and I dress and go to sleep.
