One Step Ahead

I always believed that we only live once so we must live life without regrets. Kaya if you badly want something, go for it para if ever you failed to have that something, hindi ka magkakaroon ng panghihinayang. At the end of the day, the consolation we have is "At least, I tried."

Nasa apartment ako ngayon ni Julie dahil ani niya ay sabay kaming magpapasa ng resume sa KSJ Entertainment (KSJE), the leading company in the world of film and entertainment industry. Ayon pa sa iba, KSJE is the home of the best of the best. Little did they know, most artists and employees are overworked in this kind of company.

Noong una ay ayaw kong magtrabaho dito dahil ang pinaka ayaw ko ay nape-pressure ako kaya kahit na ito ang leading company, hindi ako nagpasa ng resume. Working in a top company means a lot of responsibility and very time consuming. Palagi kong priority ang quality ng gawa ko and to work under a lot of pressure means I can't give my all.

Naalala ko bigla noon nung internship ko sa isa ring kilalang company ang pag-iyak ko dahil may hindi ako nagawang file dahil sa sobrang daming pinapagawa nila. I was so drained that time kaya simula noon, tinatak ko sa isipan ko na hindi ako magtatrabaho doon.

But looking at me right now, natatawa nalang ako dahil dito din naman pala ang bagsak ko. Life really tends to suck sometimes, for real.

But because this is Julie's dream company, sinamahan ko nalang siya kasi ever since naging magkaibigan kami, we always stick together. Same section noong high school, same strand sa senior high and blockmates pagdating ng college. The only time we can't be seen together is when we go home dahil katulad ko, her parents provided her own place though palagi din naman kaming mag-sleep over kaya magkasama pa din.

"No turning back na tayo, ha," paninigurado niya. Parehas kaming nakaupo sa sahig habang may pizza at beer in can sa coffee table. Beer sa coffee table, how ironic.

Umirap ako bago isubo ang hawak kong pizza. "Duh! Sent na nga, okay?"

"Kaya mahal na mahal kita eh. Baka ikiss kita jan."

"Tigilan mo ako Julianna."

"Ay, ang pikon!" natatawa niyang biro sa 'kin. She's right though. My patience have always been short so I am always the first one to get pissed.

Kinuha ko nalang ang remote ng tv para manood kdrama sa netflix. Iisang account lang ang gamit naming dalawa kaya salitan din kaming nagbabayad every month. Kung hindi pa siguro obvious, I am a big fan of korean dramas na pati si Julie ay naimpluwensyahan ko na.

I am very amazed by the plots made by Koreans because it always hits different kahit pa ilang beses ko ng na- rewatch. The insane plot twists, the story each character has and the line up of actors and actresses are always superb. The way the actors act their characters are also on point kaya madadala ka talaga sa bawat scenes and of course, the cinematography is just really something else that I can't put into words. One thing I loved the most is that hindi lang sa main characters nakatutok ang kwento ng drama kundi pati na din sa mga side characters.

I remember one time back in first year, we've been asked to explain what are the things we would love to see in Philippine dramas or movies and what lacks in a Pinoy drama. Tanda ko pa din hanggang ngayon ang sagot ko doon na kung hindi lang limited yung time na ibinigay, I would have passed a ten-paged paper explaining the things I wanted to change in Pinoy dramas.

"Kamusta kayo nung guy na sinasabi mo?"

Napatigil ako sa paghahanap ng gusto kong panoorin dahil sa sinabi niya. Pinili ko nalang iyong nasa recommended ng netflix bago ko siya tiningnan.
