Dream was writhing on the makeshift bed. It had been a few days since the amputation, and while it stopped the virus, the healing process was taking it's toll.

"Dream?" George sat next to his friend, "are you okay?"

Dream sucked in a breath, "it burns..."

George frowned, "what burns?"

"My fingers." The stump of Dreams arm twitched, "it feels like- like a fuckin- brand- hot iron- on my fingers."

George placed a hand on Dream's forehead. He was burning up.

"Hold on, I'm getting some ice." George told him.

Dream latched on to George's sleeve, "don't leave..."

George hesitated, "Dream, you have a fever."

Dream pulled him a little closer, "don't leave..."

George sighed, pulling Dream's shoulders onto his lap, "I'm here."

Dream buried his face in George's shirt. The two stayed there, the only sound being Dream's pained breathing. George ran his fingers through Dream's hair. The blonde was shaking, his grip tight on George's sleeve. It was heartbreaking.

Sapnap walked in quietly. His expression softened when he saw the state of his friend. George looked up.

"Can you get some ice and clean bandages?" George asked, "he has a fever."

Sapnap nodded, "yeah. Yeah, I'll be back."

George sighed softly as Sapnap left. He brushed the sweaty blonde hair out of Dreams face. Dream whined slightly, squeezing his eyes shut.

Sapnap came back shortly, placing a cold rag on Dream's head, "there's no ice, this is the best I could find."

"It'll work." George said, "bandages?"

"I've got them." Sapnap told him, "come on Dream, let's take a look at your arm."

"What arm?" Dream huffed quietly.

Sapnap managed a small smile as he peeled away the old wrappings around the stump, "dude, shut up."

Dream smiled softly, "nah."

The blonde winced as Sapnap cleaned the stitches. George held him a little tighter.

"It looks all, red and shit." Sapnap said.

"Really?" George leaned over, his eyes widening when he saw the wound.

"What? What's that look for?" Sapnap asked.

George gulped, "it's infected."

"That-" Dream huffed, "-doesn't sound good..."

"We-we can fix it right!?" Sapnap said.

"I-I don't know! I'm not a doctor Sapnap!" George yelled.

"Well you can tell it's infected, how do we get it uninfected!" Sapnap shouted.

"I don't-!" George sighed, "just keep it clean. That's all we can do without proper antibiotics."

"We're in a hospital, there's got to be something around!" Sapnap said.

George shook his head, "it's been years since the apocalypse started. Everything here would be expired."

Sapnap went quiet. There was really nothing they could do. He started wrapping up Dream's arm again.
