When [Y/N] sighed she jutted her bottom lip out, redirecting the airflow to her hair which was dangling messily over her eyes. For that brief moment, her disheveled hair fanned upwards before resettling just over her eyes. She plopped her head on the desk, watching as the ink spilled over the many documents before her.
"Madam... There's no time to rest, and please do be careful not to stain any more documents," Said her secretary, standing in front of her office desk stoically, holding even more papers that needed [Y/N]'s signatures in her hands.
[Y/N] sighed, "Books, I can read...and swords, I can swing... everything else comes easily, but why is it so difficult to listen to these pompous noblemen's pleas?"
The secretary slumped, "That I do not know, your grace."
She was sleepy; her head lolled and the muscles of her face relaxed, releasing the tension of her day. Has she become lethargic ever since she came here? It was definitely because Ayato spoils her so much, but even so, how could she stoop so low?
"Your grace, you cannot fall asleep now," the secretary placed the documents she was holding on the already tall pile of papers on [Y/N]'s desk.
"Why not? At the end of the day, it is them who will be inconvenienced, and that makes me profoundly content," she murmured, closing her eyes.
The secretary groaned, growing tired of her job. Usually, the madam would be so easy to work with, but today seemed to be a great exception, "Well, if the madam wishes to deal with something other than nobles, there is a case that you might be interested in."
"What? Another runaway arsonist? Archons, spare me the trouble."
"Not quite—sudden disappearances of servants," the secretary's voice got lower, but strict. It put a damper in the air as she placed her hands neatly behind her back. She was confident that the madam she knew would quite enjoy this.
[Y/N] opened her eyes, "Disappearances?" She inquired quietly.
Shit—thought [Y/N], feeling her hands getting colder. She was suddenly reminded of that servant she killed out of anger. It was a despotic act, but she hoped her remorse would be enough to console his soul as he had also wronged her severely.
Then again... of course, It wouldn't be.
"Indeed, your grace," The servant replied, observing her madam sitting up straight, at long last, "The citizens of Inazuma are suspecting It's murder. Even though there haven't been any bodies found."
[Y/N] leaned back in her chair, crossing her arms, "Does the commissioner know of this?"
The secretary hung her head low, "We've submitted a report, but alas, I fear it will take some time for the commissioner to review it."
The madam blinked—Are they stupid?
[Y/N] furrowed her brows, pinching the bridge of her nose, "You lot are absolute imbeciles!" She said, voice slightly raised, "Are all the servants working in this estate this senseless? Of course it would take some time for the commissioner to review a goddamn report. People disappearances are a high-priority notice, and so it should be labeled as such, but instead, you wrote it off as a mere report and had it drown in a pile of other documents?"
There was a shadow of hostility in [Y/N]'s voice, an ember that was prepared to raze into a ferocious conflagration.
The secretary was now stiff, face plastered in apprehension, and her head hung even lower, "It was an oversight on our part, but it is my responsibility to bear. I shall take any punishment you deem fit, your grace."
