[Y/N] watched as Ayato drifted off to sleep. She stayed with him for a long time, but she could not stay there for the entire night. She had duties to attend to as the Madam of the Kamisato estate. She felt so haunted by this sudden illness of his. It was a strange phenomenon - to be haunted by someone who was still alive. She wondered whether she put too much pressure, too much stress upon him.

She stood up to leave the room Ayato was in, but before she did, she made sure to kiss his cheek and move his hair from his face. He looked like a mess. With a trace of bitterness in her heart, she left the chambers, only to be met by the Kamisato estate's physician waiting for her.

"Madam, has the Commissioner fallen asleep?"

The woman nodded, "Yes, he has."

"Very well. It is essential for our Lord to get as much rest as humanly possible."

[Y/N] crossed her arms, "This illness... will it go away?"

The physician was quick to answer, "It will. Dare I say I am completely positive the Commissioner is going to be alright."

The woman frowned. The medics told her that it was curable and that the Commissioner has been ignoring his exhaustion symptoms for too long which was why he was in his current shape. Yet even though he was suffering so much, he still had to stay strong and do his best to not succumb to his illness.

The physician quickly noticed [Y/N]'s mournful expression. He was aware that she was still mourning her father so he could imagine how much heartache she must have been feeling now that the Commissioner had fallen so terribly ill.

He felt the need to comfort her, "The Commissioner would never succumb to such a dreadful fate. He will heal, and he will heal fully," the doctor put his hand on [Y/N]'s shoulder, "You too should get some rest, madam. It has been a long day for all of us."

[Y/N] nodded, looking away from the man, "Of course... Good night, doctor."

With those words, she walked away, going back to her own chambers.

Unfortunately, she could not fall asleep.

Whether it was due to Ayato or the things she would have to do the next morning, she did not know. However, what she did know was that she felt immense guilt, and that guilt ignited a ghost she had otherwise laid to rest. That ghost made out of guilt and worry wanted to keep dancing and not surrender their stage to the dreamscape, much to [Y/N]'s dismay.

Having a few hours of the nighttime left, she finally fell asleep with the help of a sedative.

And the next morning arrived sooner than she had wanted it to. It was a dreadful night. She did not feel at all alert or up to the task at hand. She barely managed to get out of bed and into the shower. Her maids expressed their concerns clearly, but she couldn't even stay focused on the words they were saying. Too much was on her mind, and the few hours of sleep she had gotten in these past three days were not of much help to her state.

When she was done getting ready, she revised the folder of things she would have to do for some time. Although she was the wife of the Commissioner — she wasn't him. She couldn't keep taking care of the work that was meant for him for long since she had duties of her own, one of which was this current mission that she had to take care of. There have been suspicions of a clan head collaborating with the Fatui. She had to find out whether that was the case or not.

She sighed as she put the folder away, turning to look at her new secretary, "Let us depart."

The secretary nodded, "Of course. What is the plan?"
