She wasn't going to get away with that. Never in a million years would I ever allow that. Soulmate or not. She's done for.
I sent a signal out to the best members of the gang telling them I required their presence in a meeting. Not long after, about a dozen people came filing through the door, taking their place in their seats.
I allowed them to settle before starting.
"We've all heard of Natasha Romanoff." I began.
This earned a few nods, mumbles and eye rolls. We all had a great disdain for the Avengers, always trying to convince people of their goodness. Trying to deter people from the dangers of the world when in fact the real danger was them.
What is life without a bit of danger? A hint of adrenaline. What is it?
I had set up a mission for Natasha Romanoff to be captured alive. I ran through the plan twice with the group before sending them off.
After everyone had left I went to my weapon room where I put a gun in my holster and a dagger in my sock. After that I got in my car and began travelling towards my warehouse where Natasha Romanoff was to be held.

Just as planned I walked through the large, vibranium doors of the warehouse and in the empty space, there the redhead was, tied to a chair. Much like myself when she had captured me.
I gave a look to the guard which indicated that he could leave.
That left me and Natasha alone.
"Deja vu, am I right?" I winked.
Her chest was falling and rising very visibly suggesting that she was breathing quite heavily.
"I'm not going to hurt you beautiful." I told her, a wide smirk on my face.
She didn't say a word. Her hands were tied behind her back.
I approached her and held her chin in my hand, I brought my head down to her level and pulled her face towards me.
"Now, what am I gonna do to keep you out of my business." I said as I tutted to myself at the thought of having to kill such a pretty girl.
"Well, you could always kill me. But you won't do that will you Y/N. You can't." She replied, her voice laced with fear even though she tried to hide it.
"What makes you say that love?"
"I know you felt the burn too. In fact you're desperate to know if I've got the same one." She claimed.
I didn't reply I just looked away from her.
"Can I see it?" She asked.
I knew what she was asking to see. She was asking to see the 'N' on my arm. I rolled my sleeve up to reveal the letter carved into me.
"Can you untie me?" She asked.
I squinted my eyes at her, trying to read her eyes again. To see if she was plotting something. I couldn't. She stared back at me and nodded in reassurance. She wasn't going to try anything.
I untied her arms from the chair and she remained put. She started to move her arm around as my hand shifted to rest on the gun in my holster.
She stopped her movement and looked at me.
"I'm not going to hurt you." She repeated my words from earlier before continuing.
She showed me a similar carving, a similar branding, the letter of my name engraved in her arm also- where we touched.
"Can you help me understand as to how we got these, and why only then and not when we were fighting?" She asked genuinely.
I sighed.
"Come with me." I ordered.
She followed me out of the warehouse and into my car with me.
"Don't try anything." I told her to which she nodded.
I drove off, heading in the direction of my flat. I had enough money for an actual house. A large one. A mansion even. However, I preferred my cubby hole, not only did it help me to blend in but I liked how cramped it was. The total opposite of claustrophobia.
Upon arriving to the block of flats Natasha spoke.
"You meant it when you said you weren't going to hurt me, right?" She said now realising that we were in my territory. A territory where I had full control.
I laughed and didn't reply. I just opened the car door and got out which she mimicked.
We entered my flat and I set my keys down and told her to follow me to my lounge area. For a flat, my home seemed quite modern. It had black furniture with a beautiful view of the city since it was on the top floor.
We sat down and I offered her a drink which she immediately declined.
"I'm not going to poison you." I claimed.
"I'm just not thirsty." She argued.
"Whatever you say." I replied and sat myself down on the other sofa facing her.
I grabbed the grey book from earlier and held it in my hands. I ran my hand along the front cover while talking to her.
"Everything you need to know about this is in here, I can't promise that when you read it you'll like it but.. here you go." I told her as I gave her the book.
I watched her flick through the pages as I sipped on my glass of margarita. Her eyes went wide and I assumed that she had started to read the soulmate section.
After she had finished, I leaned back and waited for her to speak first.
"S-soulmates?" She said.
"That's what it says." I replied.
"No. No way. How can that be? In what world could you ever be my soulmate. I won't stand by it." She ranted, clearly in denial and panicked about the whole situation.
"First of all ouch, there's nothing wrong with me. People would kill to be with me." I stated while clutching my heart sarcastically.
We sat for a while discussing everything. By the end she was still in denial of all that the book stated.
The reason it only burned at that moment and not when we were fighting was because we both similarly felt an odd attraction to each other as we allowed ourselves to relax in the presence of one another.

There was a loud crash and my door came down to the floor.
"Oh I forgot to tell you, I called the Avengers." She said humorously.
The fucker double crossed me. I should've known. I couldn't lie and say that the feeling of betrayal didn't hurt a little but, it was only a little.
"Oh I hate you Romanoff." I mumbled as I was put in cuffs and sedated by none other than Clint Barton.
Great. I get to spend quality time with my best friends- The Avengers.
