Apology

I woke up early, before most people in the tower, so I could go and see Natasha without anyone disturbing us.

I walked to her room, scratching the back of my neck as I reached her door. I was still tired but that didn't matter. I needed to make up for what I'd said.

I knocked twice and then let myself in.

She was still asleep, I could tell she had been crying all night. Her mascara was still on, half smudged down her face as a cause of the tears. She had dark bags under her eyes, seemingly having only just fell asleep.

I sat next to her, waiting for her to wake up.

I tried to test my powers again, I focused on trying to see what she was dreaming about. Yet, there was nothing.

I'll have to ask one of the older members of the Alevler Evi at some point. They'll know.

Still, I couldn't stop thinking about it. Why could I read everybody else, but her? I was never too fond of twilight but, now I knew how Edward felt.

After a while of just sitting here, messing around with my rings, the redhead began to stir awake.

I noticed she wasn't as thinly clad as usual, dressed in... my clothes.

I was too busy trying to work out how she got my clothes that I didn't notice she had been staring at me.

"Morning." I said to her.

"What are you doing in here?" She asked me, obviously still bitter about yesterday.

"I'm here to apologise." I told her.

"You can forget it." She said and turned back over.

I put my hand on her arm to stop her from completely turning over.

"Wait, let me say sorry for once. I never get to do that to anyone." I pleaded.

She sighed and then nodded.

"I'm sorry for everything I said. I seriously cannot handle conflict and with the way you were talking about me and Wanda, I got really stressed out. It wasn't fair for me to talk about you and Steve like that. Nor about me and you when we already clarified our reasons. I'm sorry and I hope you can forgive me." I apologised.

"It wasn't fair at all but, it also wasn't fair for me to get so irritated over simple talking." She replied.

"Why did you get so irritated?" I asked.

"I guess I was.. jealous." She replied honestly.

My heart dropped. My stomach turned. My breathing got heavier.

Jealous? Why would she be jealous?

"Natasha, I can't read you." I blurted out.

She looked a little hurt by my changing of the subject but brushed it off.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"I mean, you obviously know my powers. Aspects of mind control. That includes reading people. I read people through their eyes, when I look at yours I see nothing. It's like you're looking right through me and it's really frustrating because I always want to know what you're thinking and how you feel because I never want to make you jealous or hurt you or offend you or-" I started to rant before she cut me off by putting her hand over my mouth lightly.

I stared into her eyes and breathed heavily. Only now. Only now could I read her. In her eyes I saw it, for the first time.

Wanting.

Needing.

"Y/N.." She started, "Why did you say that thing about Steve?" She asked, obviously something had clicked in her mind.

"I don't know, I didn't think I could feel jealousy but I was too. I hated the way he looked at you the first time I came here, and I didn't even know you." I admitted.

She had clocked it.

"Careful Y/N... it sounds like you almost like me." She whispered, her breathing heavy, staring deeply into the abyss and pain of my eyes.

"I could say the same about you.. Natalia." I whispered back.

Her stomach fluttered at this name.

My heart was beating out of my chest, I took her hand and placed it to my heart.

"Your heart is racing." She told me, stating the obvious.

"It always does when you're around." I admitted.

How can two people need each other so fast? Maybe it was the not knowing that brought us closer together, that increased the rate of our attraction to each other.

The more we knew we couldn't have one another, the more attracted we felt to each other.

None of that really mattered because in this moment, it was just me and Natasha.

Together.

Only us.

It's more romantic when nobody knows what's going on.

Her eyes flickered from my eyes to my lips then back up again. Crimson creeped up her face. Her breathing got even heavier, due to how close we had gotten unintentionally, I could feel it running over my face.

"Do you want to kiss me?" I whispered as I watched her suck in her lips, wetting them.

"Yes." She whispered back barely audibly as she got impossibly closer to me.

Three of her fingers danced lightly on my jaw, barely touching it.

I took the bottom of her t shirt in my hand, bunching it up and pulling her towards my lips.

Our lips met gently, only love between them. No lust at this moment in time. We knew we wanted each other. Not one of us doubted that the other was lying.

Her hand moved to the back of my neck, scratching lightly. My lips moved from focusing on her top lip to now her bottom which, when we began to pull away, I bit gently.

We stared at each other. Taking in each other's reactions, searching for any regret in our eyes.

"What happens now?" She asked, her eyes looking from one of mine to the other.

"Whatever you'd like." I replied.

We were both indecisive.

We both began smiling which quickly turned into laughing.

God she was perfect.
