Ciardia
-
Ciardia glanced around the fold, the light-blocking volcra for getting to the ship. She let out a breath, she wasn't going to die this time. Hopefully. "And why should we destroy the fold?" Ciardia's attention was brought back to her father. He was staring at a disgusted Alina. "It's the greatest weapon that we've got."
Alina looked over to Ciardia, her face wholly shattered of hope of anything going her way. "You can't be serious. The years you spent when I was a child telling me that the fold would be gone one day. That all people would unite- It was all a lie. The image I had created of you-" Ciardia frowned. Kirigan walked over to her and gently place a hand on her shoulder.
"When I lost you. I came to the realization that you and every other Grisha would be safe if the fold stayed. I hope you one day will understand," he said gently, leaving her as he walked back to the front of the skiff to admire his work.
The fold soon reached its end, but the border of the fold is where the skiff came to a stop. "Why are we stopped?" Asked a lady who was a part of the guest allowed on this trip. What was he doing? Ciardia had asked herself, her eyes zeroing in on her father.
"One more demostration. You've seen what the Sun Summoner can do," Kirigan spoke, behin him Alina struggled to pull herself free from her ropes. "Now bear witness to what I can do... with her power."
Kirigan pulled Ciardia with him, he wanted her by his side. He wanted to show her how powerful she could be, but Ciardia pulled against him. His strength was too strong for her, and he resisted her trying to slow his heartbeat until he dropped.
"Soon we will be a happy family again, ruling over Ravka, how it should have always been," He told her placing her beside Alina.
"Whatever it is you want me to do. I won't do it," Alina said standing her ground, almost now shielding Ciardia away from Kirigan.
"You've done your part. Now I shall do mine," He said, the opening that once stood in front of them was now closed by the fold. He was pushing the fold out words and Ciardia hadn't a clue how to stop him. Alina was quick to cast her light infront of the skiff but kirigan pushed her to the side. "No you don't." Kirigan grabbed her and spoke words Ciardia couldn't understand as the sound of screaming intensified. He let go of her walking away towards the Heartrender who was on Volcra look out.
"Are you okay?" Ciardia asked, kneeling down to help Alina. She shook her head but their attentin was brought to the sound of gun shots. Both girls looked to where the orginated.
"Mal." Alina whispered, her eyes growing in shock. They knew eachother, had he teamed up with Kaz?
Mal stopped as the heartrender used his power to stop Mal from moving. He dropped to the ground, the gun falling beside him. Alina was quick to practically crawl towards her friend, leaving Ciardia alone. The world around her blurred, she was blanking out. No sounds were proper, she wanted to run. This was all to much for her and the things she was used to in Ketterdam. She wanted to go back to the crow club and help Kaz catch out theives and cheats. She wanted to go back to being known as Drty hands right hand man not the black generals usless daughter.
She shook her head refocusing on what was going on. She caught a glimps of Inej's long pony tail. Inej was on deck. Fighting. Where was Kaz? The sound of gunshots ung again, Jesper walked into the light, shooting his guns towards Kirigan. Kaz stood right behind him.
Ciardia and Kaz locked eyes, she was tempted to run to him. Hug him, tell him to man up and kiss her again, but she didn't she knew better. She would only get him killed if she did. In the corner of her eye she noticed her father flinch, the glint of the knife told her Inej hadn't missed.
