Starker Ship

So this came up from a conversation I had with my friend who wasn't aware of this ship. I don't know who came up with this ship and thought it was a good idea. I think I can comfortably say that the person who came up with it... had daddy issues.

For those of you who don't know, Starker is the ship of Peter Parker and Tony Stark.

Yup... you read that right.

I read an article that someone wrote about this and they had almost the same points that I'm writing about. Unfortunately, I read this a while ago and I don't remember who wrote it (otherwise I would give credit where it's due).

There are multiple things wrong with this ship:

1. Age difference

In the MCU, Peter is born in 2001 and Tony is born in 1970. So, if I just pull out my handy-dandy calculator... there is an age gap of 31 years!!!

Since, in the MCU, Peter is around 15-17yrs old and Tony is roughly 48yrs old, this is considered pedophilia. Tony is like a dad age-wise (and relationship-wise, I'll get to that later).

This is an age gap that I am highly uncomfortable with (yes I've read a Wattpad story with an age gap like this with Tony but that's beside the point). Sure I ship some people together that have a decent-sized age gap (such as Katelena, they'll be a chapter about this) but the thing with a lot of these ships, I imagine them being younger.

2. Relationship

They're relationship is seriously father/son and I feel like stretching that out feels wrong in a way. With Tony being like a protective dad, literally taking Peter under his wing, it's weird if we make it sexual. It makes taking Peter in as his own seem like grooming.

I love that Tony is like a father to Peter, since the father-like figures that Peter once had are now all dead (RIP).

Oh god, writing that makes me realise that after Endgame ALL of Peter's father-like figures are dead.

Oh shit... ALL OF HIS PARENTAL FIGURES DON'T REMEMBER WHO HE IS AFTER NO WAY HOME!!!

Hasn't this kid been through enough???!!!

3. Clashes with other ships

Throughout this series, I'll be listing ships, both good and bad, and there will be some double-ups of people (but not ships if that makes sense). But this doesn't stop the fact that this is clashes with some of my other ships.

Like the Pepperony, Stony, Spideychelle, Peter x Kate (idk what this ship is called), Ironstrange and Frostiron ships are all so much better than Starker. They all work well together and match their energy. I'd put these ships over Starker any day.

4. How the relationship would work

This relationship wouldn't be fair on each person. Tony wouldn't be around enough for it to be a happy relationship. Also, I feel like it wouldn't be fair on either of their mental health.

Stark would be constantly worrying about Parker (more than he already does) and Tony would beat himself up even more if something was to happen with Peter. And vice-versa.

But I guess this ship might work out if they were the same age. They'd get along well in school and they'd always challenge each other to be the best they can be. They'd be opposites but Tony being popular would look out for Peter, so I guess it could work.

But considering the age gap, I'd prefer if Tony stays the father and not the daddy.
