I got too entertained with Steve and Robin, so I was already a little late to the Hellfire meeting. When I arrived back to the school, I saw Dustin at the entrance by himself. When his eyes landed on me, he walked up to me with a worried look.

"Holy shit, Y/N. Where were you? I was so freaking worried because I didn't see you at the end of school. And now, you're late. You scared me. We're supposed to take care of each other, dude."

"I'm sorry Dustin." I chuckled softly. "I just needed to think. I went to get a book and a movie for us to watch. Actually, I met Steve. Really nice guy. We should hang out more with him"

"I know, right? He is super cool."

"Hey, you two. Get in already." Eddie had come out of the building to scold us. I don't really know how much time he had been out here. "Come on."

As we walked to the classroom that had been lent to us, Dustin whispered to me. "Despite what he says, Eddie was worried about you too."

We entered the room. Everyone was already sitting in their places with their materials ready. I took a seat next to Mike and Dustin. I pulled out my papers and placed them in order. Eddie was going to be Dungeon Master again. I was excited to see what he had planned.

We ended up battling a hydra while we attempted to steal a cursed necklace from a witch's home.  Everything was going fine. We had rough moments when our points weren't enough, but that is the usual in D&D. We saved each other in different moments and slayed what needed to be slayed. There were yells of desperation, prayers and laughs. People were having fun, and after some hours, we succeeded on our mission and the game ended. Eddie wrapped the meeting up by asking us to design new character for the campaign, to which some sounded excited and others not so much.

Everyone started picking up their belongings. This ordinarily took more time for Eddie, since he had to pack the board, dice and his D&D handbook. Everyone said goodbye as they started leaving the room to go home. Dustin looked at me, ready to leave. I returned a small hand gesture telling him I needed to speak with Eddie. As the good friend he was, he understood and took the remaining Hellfire members outside.

    "Hey, Munson? Can we talk?"

"I thought we had already agreed that there's nothing to talk about." He replied without looking at me.

"Then why are you acting like that?"

     "Like what?"

"Like we're not even friends. Like you're mad at me. Like you hate me."

"I don't hate you." He kept on packing.

"Then look at me! Look me in the eye and tell me nothing's going on!" We stayed in silence. No response from him. "I know you heard what Mrs. Henderson said. I know you're hurt but-"

"I am hurt, because I realized that she is right. I'm a freak. I'm a bad influence for you and Dustin. I'm a ticking time bomb that will drag good kids like you to be like me." He radiated something stronger than anger: sadness.

"Eddie, we're all freaks! That is why we're in the Hellfire club."

"You don't get it! We're not the same, and I hope we never are."

Tears streamed down my cheeks as I stared at him.

"Eddie, it doesn't matter what people think of you. It doesn't matter what they think of our friendship. You taught me that. Please..."

"The thing isn't about what they say or what they think. It's about what I am. I'm a freaky drug dealer who plays a fantasy game and hasn't graduated high school."

"And we've been working so you can pass the year. I'm here to help however I can."

    "I don't want a savior!"

"I don't want to be your savior, Eddie! I want to be your friend!"

The loudest silence I had ever heard pressed down on us. We had not realized it, but we had walked towards each other and were face to face.

"Wake up, Y/N. I'm a monster." He said almost silently

"Edward Joseph Munson, don't you fucking dare." I placed one finger on his chest. "You fucking saved my life again and again. You taught me how to stop surviving and how to start living. So, if you are to ruin my life and drag me down with you, fine! I hope I go down with you... You're everything to me. I would rather die than say goodbye."

Volcanic desperation rushed through my veins as I waited for a response. Literally anything, a twitch on his lips or a drift on his eyes.

    "Eddie... please say something." Anything.

He got closer, getting rid of the space between us. In his eyes, I could see that a thousand thoughts were racing in his head. One of his hands approached my face and gently wiped the tears off my wet cheeks.

"Stop crying, Sweetheart." He said as he slowly wrapped me into the warmest hug I had ever been in. I held on to him like my life depended on it. I was holding on for dear life.

After a few comfortable moments, he let go and looked into my eyes while his own held back an ocean of emotions. His hand moved to hold my face gently. He quickly thought about something, like he was considering whether his next movement was a good idea. Suddenly, his lips pressed against mine. I froze for a few seconds. This was out of nowhere. But I managed to place my hands on his waist. It only lasted a brief moment, but it felt like it made time stop. We pulled away and faced each other. I was extremely confused, but a small smile escaped my lips. Eddie's expression showed obvious worry, however, he also smiled.

    "What was that?"

"I wanted my princess to stop wasting tears on a dumbass boy."

"Guys! Is everything okay?" it was Mike. Dustin couldn't buy us more time.

"Yeah, we're fine." Eddie answered. Then he addressed me quietly. "We should probably go."

Eddie and me quickly grabbed our things and met Mike and Dustin outside.
