"So, you got invited to one of those dumb parties, huh?" Eddie asked as everyone began picking up their things. We had had a campaign session. The games had gotten more interesting and dangerous each time we played. The campaign was coming to an end as spring break approached.

"Yeah. Jason said the boys officially considered me part of the team, and they organized this 'Pre-Spring Break' thing." Lucas replied.

"And... you're actually going to this dumbass's party."

"Yeah. I mean, it could be fun. Besides, the guys aren't half as bad as you think. They can be difficult, but they're not bad people."

"The thing with them is that they're idiots. Absolute morons trapped in forced conformity." Eddie's tone became slightly daggering.

"Maybe if you tried to get to know them better, you'd change your mind." Lucas answered. "Maybe you should even try to go to some of the parties."

"Over my dead body, Sinclair. Just... be careful with who you trust." Eddie calmed a little.

"I will."

When finished picking up my papers, I approached Eddie and stood next to him as he saw Lucas walk away. He seemed worried but wouldn't let anyone notice. "What was all that about?"

"Sinclair is going to a party at Andy's. You know... one of Jason's little friends. "

"Are you for real? Well... I wish him good luck." Eddie was visibly still thinking about the issue. I tried to comfort him a little. "He'll probably be fine."

"It just makes me so angry how Jason can have whatever the fuck he wants because he's popular and a pretty boy and... he's a jerk!"

"Yeah, but he isn't half as good as you are playing the guitar or playing D&D. He certainly doesn't have a badass taste in music or an immaculate style."

"But he is cool enough to take Sinclair to the dark side."

"Lucas enjoys basketball as well as he enjoys fantasy games. He is making his own decisions... He's allowed to."

"I know." Eddie admitted. He was still upset so I proposed an idea.

"Hey, how about we crash the party?"

"What?"

"Lucas said you should get to experience the 'Jock Side'. Why don't we take this as an opportunity to experience the 'forced conformity' and maybe destroy in from the inside." I started heading to the exit with Eddie walking by my side.

"No way. There's absolutely no way I'm doing that."

"Oh, come on. I'll trade you for... a date wherever you want. You don't have to tell me anything, just tell me when." I offered. He seemed tempted, but not convinced.

"Wherever? Even if we go to that restaurant you hate so much?" He smiled.

"Yup."

"But I won't be friends with them."

"Okay. Just... at least play nice. For me."

"Fine." Eddie gave in. We started parting ways. "But I'm only going for the food and drinks!"

"I know." I walked to Dustin, who was waiting with me to go home.

"And to teach them about good music! I won't stand it if Duran Duran is playing all night long."

"I'll wait for you in my house at six."

And just like I said, Eddie Munson knocked my door the next day. He was somewhat late, but I didn't mind. After all I was still getting ready. Claudia was out working late, and Dustin was studying in his room. He had this huge test on Monday and asked not to be disturbed. When I opened the door Eddie stood in front of me, wearing blue jeans, a black Metallica shirt, and a red and black squares flannel shirt tied around his waist. A silver cross necklace hung around his neck, accompanied by his usual guitar pick one. He eyed me up and down and smiled warmly.
