My brother and I, Detective Joe West, walked into the cortex of S.T.A.R. Labs. We were faced with all of the normal faces- Barry, Cisco, Caitlin. But, there was an unfamiliar face. Except, it was familiar. It was Harrison Wells- the man who killed Barry's mother. Joe and I didn't hesitate to pull out our weapons and open fire. There was a streak of lightning and the man was still standing, so we both knew that Barry used his speed to catch the bullets.
"Joe! Emma! Put the guns down!" Barry yelled at us.
"How is he still alive?"
"How are you still alive?" Barry had to physically hold us back from charging the man.
"I don't know, because you both missed!" He responded snarkily.
"Hey, I'm trying to keep them from shooting you." Barry scolded him. "You're not helping." He turned back to us. "Let's take a walk, all right? It's all good." He practically pushed us out of the cortex.

"I know that this is a lot to take in, but that guy back there in that room, he's not Wells." Barry explained, trying to calm us both down.
"Dr. McGee swore she saw Wells." I shook my head. "He broke into Mercury Labs.""What? Why didn't you tell me this?" Barry scolded me.
"Joe told me not to." I shrugged.
"Joe!" He scolded my brother.
"Because I didn't believe her!" I didn't even want to consider that Wells was alive."
"Ditto." I agreed. Wells and I- well, Thawne and I, always had a flirtatious relationship. We flirted, we screwed, but we never dated. Probably for the better seeing as he was a psychopath and all.
"Eddie erased that Wells from existence." Barry explained. "This guy is- he's someone else, and he says he's here to help us stop Zoom."
"How can you even look at him?" I asked Barry honestly.
"You think this is easy for me?" Barry snapped. "The guy in there moves, sounds, looks exactly like the guy that drove a knife through my mother's heart. I have to resist the urge to kill him. I'm trying my best to get past that, okay? Either of you shooting him, that's not helping."
"After all our losses, I thought at least we were free of Wells." I admitted, pinching the bridge of my nose. "I just want one week where we're not surprised by somebody from our past."Joe sighed. "I better go fill in Iris." Joe kissed my head and walked towards the exit of S.T.A.R. Labs.
"Good luck." Barry muttered hopelessly as Joe walked away.

The rest of the team was out doing their own stuff and I was left on 'New Wells Babysitting Duty.' We had avoided eye contact and hadn't spoken the entire time until I looked him in the eyes for one second."What?" He asked coldly, not bothering to look up from his computer screen.
"This is the first time I've even had the courage to look you in the eyes and you respond with 'what?'"
"Why haven't you had the courage to look me in the eyes?" He asked, finally looking back at me.
"We had a Wells here. He wasn't necessarily a Wells, but he looked like a Wells. I...fell in love with him. So, it's hard to see you because you really look just like him."
"That's it? True love? I assure you, Miss West, I am nothing like him." He responded coldly, looking back at his computer.

"I saw myself." Linda said shakily. Joe, Patty, and I got called in for a homicide at CCPN and, knowing that Iris was there, we rushed over immediately. "How is that even possible?""Sounds like you have an evil meta twin." Patty responded. This was unusual even for her.
"And now Larkin's dead because someone who looks like me wanted to kill him." Linda's voice was even more shaky and she started to pace the room.
"Hey, none of this is your fault." I put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "We're gonna figure it all out. I promise."
"How you doing?" Barry asked her.
"I'm alive. Thanks to Iris." She looked at her friend gratefully. "Turns out she's as badass with a gun as she is with a pen."
"Yeah, she is." He agreed.
"I'm just happy that you're safe."
"We've arranged a security detail around the clock, just to be sure." Joe told her.
"I can take you to them now if you're ready." Linda nodded and Patty pulled her away to bring her to the security detail."
As soon as they were out of ear shot, the smile on Barry's face faded. "This is because of me. I should've been here."
"Barry, you were blind." Iris defended him. "There's nothing that you could have done."
Joe looked down at the mask in Barry's hands. "You think this mask can help us find this woman?"
"Any evidence is just gonna match Linda." Barry shook his head. "I'll think of something else. Light's not gonna kill again."

Light didn't kill again. Team Flash was able to capture her, but the conversation I had with Wells stuck in my head. He was nothing like him.
