Andrea Buffet

Three days had passed since Hazel's dinner night and in those days Aiden and I had not exchanged a single word together.

Even when we wanted to say something to each other, such as the interview we are going to do today, we did it with messages. I do not know what invaded me that night. Maybe it was the glasses of alcohol that made their effect or maybe the anger I had inside and I wanted to get it out somewhere. I hate myself for being so weak. To surrender to his touches so easily.

I only had one mission in mind and it was to hate him to the point of not letting him touch me or make me feel anything. And I failed. I let him touch me. I felt. In order for all this not to be enough, it had to happen for Miles to be present.

These days every morning I wake up and I find the bed empty. He would come at night in the late hours and I would lie down as if I were asleep while in the morning he would leave early without making any noise. Each of us was living his life as if that night had not happened and as if the other person was just a shadow.

As I set my heels, I got up from the chair and reached out to get the bag from the bed. Then walking straight to the door as I passed the kitchen I heard Mika's voice calling to me.

"Andrea come and sit with us for breakfast. "
Us? I asked myself. Who could it be if Aiden was not at home. I decided to get close to them and when I was at the kitchen door I glanced at the person sitting next to Miles. It was him. He didn't left home today.

"Good morning! " I said placing my bag at the chair next to the one who I sat, but without making eye contact with him.

"Good morning!" They both great me back. Miles looked at both of us from time to time while Aiden kept playing with the fork in his plate. The maid came after some minutes with my plate in her hands and after thanking her i started to eat.

After tasting the food an expression of dissatisfaction set in my face. I wanted more salt in it. I tried to extend my hand, but in vain. Why the hell should that salt be so far away and worst of all, very close to him?

"Miles can you pass me the salt?" I asked him and he saw the salt then me again with an raised eyebrow. It was a little bit far for him too, but I didn't want to speak to the other person in the room.
"Please Miles!" I again spoke but this time I raised my voice a little more.

Miles was about to reach it out but Aiden brought it closer to him without speaking at all. He did not even look up. The morning went on so quietly, he did not say a word while Miles and I discussed about school.

A few minutes after we were all done with breakfast, Aiden picked up the keys and the phone while Miles grabbed his school bag and got to his feet and ran to the door. I was the only one who stood for about a minute more then I took the bag and I started to leave towards the door.

As soon as I went downstairs I noticed that their car had not left yet even though they were both in it.

"What are you waiting? Are you thinking of going to work walking?" Aiden spoke and I surprised pointed the finger at myself asking if he was talking to me.

"Come on. We don't have to much time." He again spoke and I understand. He was talking to me. Of course he was talking to me, there were no one else, but I was just surprised of him talking to me.

I got in the car and he left immediately. Not to much after we left Miles too school we were at my work place. The only words we spoke in the car were about the questions contained in the interview.

As we were entering, everyone was looking at us strangely as they were greeting us. To get up stair we took the elevator and the moment it stopped and we had to get off I felt his hand as he grabbed mine. I turned my head back to be faced with his eyes and my heart started beating fast again. Lately it had become like a broken clock.
